Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is a part of this new trilogy of AC games that focus more so on gameplay and time era than its roots. Being more focused on weapons, fighting, abilities, world, and characters more so than stealth, hidden blades, and hoods like were used to. Although Origins is very similar to this Odyssey takes it to a whole another level removing the hidden blade, almost every sense of stealth, and you don’t even play as an Assassin, etc. Really huge world and lots of copy and paste side objectives to fill your time with exploring along with several cool bosses. The present day storyline is boring and pointless at this point and the game reuses a majority of assets from Origins including game mechanics making it very similar.
+Massive open world with several islands, open water, and all kinds of different sub regions to explore with their own quests and characters and even bosses.
+Naval combat means you get to control your own ship and battle other ships for resources to upgrade your ship or just for fun. Can recruit lieutenants as you go to give you more benefits.
+Lots of side objectives and side quests scattered all throughout the world
+Several cool boss fights with cyclopses, Medusa, the minotaur, etc.
+Eagle that you can use to scout out resources or enemies from a distance
+Variety of weapons to choose
+Skills and various abilities
+A lot of different armor types you can wear and even have a vanity slot to wear whatever you want and still have the highest armor value
+A lot of timed quests for quick recourses
+Can upgrade weapons from blacksmiths
+Constantly being hunted by bounty hunters the more you commit crimes the more come after you makes the game more intense and entertaining however, you can always pay them off to leave you alone
+Through progressing the story or just doing side related content you can find clues to who the Templars are and hunt them down
+Battle arena to just fight endless waves of enemies or key characters
+2 different characters to play as
+Can sparta kick most enemies off of high ledges to do insanely high damage
+Can chose which side of the Peloponnesian war to side with in every area of the game either with Athens or Sparta
+Athens is such an amazing city to explore and run around
+Dialogue choices and you can make major decisions in the story that impact the ending
+Can climb almost any surface
+No fall damage perk
+Can have your horse go directly towards any marker without moving them yourself
+Whales constantly jump out of the water when sailing and is super awesome
+Can skip through dialogue omfg thank god for this
-Orchilaum felt useless the items you can buy with it never felt worth how rare it is
-Honestly the map felt to big and trying to 100% the map you’ll just experience the exact same activities again and again with the exact same layouts
-Although the bounty hunters are fun they can also be very annoying as several locations and quests require you to break the law therefore causing bounty hunters to pursue you and if anything also then makes you have to pay them off. Every bounty hunter you kill they just get replaced with another they are endless. If you are assaulting a fort or any kind of base with enemies and get detected the bounty hunters no matter where on the map could be 1,000 kms away they will teleport to the base and attack you. Sometimes even 3 or more at time which is just so overhwhelming and stupid. Not only that but even battling a single bounty hunter and the others will teleport to you to assist.
-Several enemies are just immune to being kicked off ledges :(
-Several conquest battles that take place in naval combat has the enemies leave the battle area and pursuing them will cause you to lose for leaving the combat area
-Not really an Assassin’s Creed it all… no hidden blade, almost no stealth aspect it all aside from hiding in bushes that's literally it. The main character you play as isn’t even an Assassin nor is there even a mention of the Assassins in the main story aside from the present timeline as well as the Templars aren't named either. Barley any parkour aside from climbing mountains occasionally clearly Ubisoft just wants to focus on making RPGs in certain time periods than making an actual AC game as calling it AC will sell more than a new ip.
-Athens needs more fast travel areas around it I hate running through the city to get to a marker 400 meters away
-Can romance several characters but no sex scenes :(
-Odyssey reuses a bunch of assets and game mechanics from Origins almost by making it the exact same game except with a new map, characters, and some new game mechanics. Aside from that it felt like Origins so much with how similar the gameplay was
-Characters voice acting, movements in cutscenes, and overall narrative is boring at times and just awkward
-The bull charge ability typically just goes right through enemies and does no damage or always misses
-You have to use another program Uplay or Ubisoft Connect to play this which is so lame it takes forever to load and then cloud saves upon quitting which lags everything. If I leave my computer on after playing I’ll keep getting emailed for an activation key for being afk too long? Fuck Uplay
-Smaller boats break for literally no reason at random times
-Can’t stealth any base unless you get lucky enough with a high assassination skill. Majority of captains you have to kill will survive you assassinating them then causing you having to fight them and alerting the rest of the base. Stealth is so rare…
Odyssey is a fun game for someone with a lot of time, likes a huge open world game with tons of different weapons and abilities to obtain, and likes Greek Mythology. However in comparison to being an actual Assassin’s Creed game it is almost nothing like one. You don’t play as an Assassin, you have no hidden blade, almost no stealth options at all, and basically no parkour. It’s just an open world Spartan RPG branded as an AC game in order to actually sell well compared to if it was its own new game. Very similar to Origins and Valhalla in this RPG like games not like every other game in the series. The game is fun if you like doing the same activities scattered around the insanely huge map again and again whilst having the weird dialogue cutscenes in a non Assassin's Creed Assassin’s Creed game. It’s ok. They literally tried so hard to fit Assassin’s into the story…. Of an AC game.

AC Odyssey is honestly the most fun Assassin's Creed® game I have played so far.
I know that many fans have different opinions on this game, but please read my pros and cons first.
PROS:
+ The landscape is beautiful and pretty massive (yes, a lot of the map is water, but even in the ocean there is lots to discover!)
+ The game looks very good even on low graphic settings (more about it later)
+ Pretty complex and long-lasting story (I don't take that last aspect here as a con, because unlike in AC Origins, there's no real "need" to grind lots of levels early on)
+ The side-quests can be pretty fun to do (e.g. travel around the world, find special weapons, defeat secret bosses, ...)
+ I just LOVE the menu music (Whenever I start the game, I just sit there and listen to the music for a couple of minutes before assassinating my foes)
CONS:
- The biggest flaw I have to address here is that the game doesn't run smoothly on 60 FPS for me (even on the absolute lowest settings. I know, my PC isn't the best, but my specs are better than the advertised bare minimum required)
- The game is made and published by Ubisoft (this might sound meaner than it should, but generally Ubisoft games just don't run smoothly on my PC and recently my Ubisoft Connect account is bugging around by always wanting me to sign in, although i have always checked the box that said "remember me" and it is just annoying)
- Sometimes grinding is more fun than the story missions (This might not happen to you, but I forgot to play the story missions and here I am: approximately 200 hours playtime without having completed the story once. I only know the ending because a friend told me.)
If you are thinking of buying either this game or another one from this franchise, my personal top list would be:
Odyssey > Valhalla > Black Flag > Origins > Unity
( NOTE: These are only the games I played myself and a lower rank doesn't mean that the game is bad. This list is based solely on my opinion only! )
