Assassin’s Creed® 2 is the follow-up to the title that became the fastest-selling new IP in video game history. The highly anticipated title features a new hero, Ezio Auditore da Firenze, a young Italian noble, and a new era, the Renaissance. Assassin’s Creed 2 retains the core gameplay experience that made the first opus a resounding success and features new experiences that will surprise and challenge players. Assassin’s Creed 2 is an epic story of family, vengeance and conspiracy set in the pristine, yet brutal, backdrop of a Renaissance Italy. Ezio befriends Leonardo da Vinci, takes on Florence’s most powerful families and ventures throughout the canals of Venice where he learns to become a master assassin. EZIO, A NEW ASSASSIN FOR A NEW ERA Ezio Auditore da Firenze is a young Italian noble who will learn the ways of the assassins after his family was betrayed and he looks to seek vengeance. He is a lady’s man, a free soul with panache yet has a very human side to his personality. Through him, you become a master assassin. RENAISSANCE ITALY Italy in the 15th century was less a country and more a collection of city-states where families with political and economic strength began to take leadership roles in cities like Florence and Venice. This journey through some of the most beautiful cities in the world takes place in a time in history where culture and art were born alongside some of the most chilling stories of corruption, greed and murder.

Just finished this game after roughly 30 hours of peak gameplay. I'm sure the people who made steam show „ Mixed“ rewiews (the recent reviews are shown as mixed rn) can't even fathom the beauty of this game. The controls, the combat system, the parkour on the roofs of Florence, Venice, etc, and most importantly the story are mesmerizing. Sure, sometimes Ezio goes druunk and does some things you dont want, such as jumping in the complete opposite of where you wanted him to jump, but after some time it's rather funny than annoying. When I finished it, my first thought was: ABSOLUTE CINEMA
If it's on sale, COP IT IMMEDIATELY, and i would highly recommend the other parts of the Ezio trilogy.
ABSOLUTE CINEMA

Assassins Weed II was everything i wanted the sequel to be. It was more of everything, more in depth both in terms of gameplay mechanics and world design.
And much like Ubisoft itself, you can´t have nice things without some flaws.
Gameplay:
It´s parcour time again and this time, combat actually works much, MUCH better than in the first game. Aside from enemies having an HP bar, you now have some other skills that could make your day toto bene.
First of all, you can now grab enemies and throw them around. Like, off a roof or into another dude. You can also throw them to the ground and either stab them or give them a good hug of the beardwalk. With their teeth. Honestly, this game reminds me more and more of Yakuza the longer i play. Maybe the Omi Alliance was a branch of Abstergo industries after all...
However, since we´re still pretty early mechanics wise, there are some issues that needed attention. Counters and dodges work more reliably than in AC1, but only 75% of the time instead of 50%. Combat can be smooth if the game feels like it, but one frame off and you get combo-ed back into stone age.
Also, the enemies, especially in the late game can get rather frustrating. You cannot counter them, you cannot grab them, if you attack, they counter you and dodging also doesn´t help. What am i supposed to do? It feels like i´m fighting enemies from a future AC game where there are more mechanics to work around those issues.
Since i already compared the combat to Yakuza, some fights feel like Yakuza 3.
This isn´t good.
Parcour has been improved greatly. Everything works smoother and faster than before, but i still found Ezio often succumbing to his depression and rather jumping on the street rather than the platform 5 nanometers next to it. But since this series only got better in this aspect, i won´t complain.
Gameplay structure lacks severely. This game is long, and that would be okay if the developers wouldn´t try to squeeze game time out of the last act as if they were trying to squish water out of a brick of coal. One example: The game has some massive endgame vibes but then hits you with a roadblock saying you need to kill 9 dudes all over the city. Yeah... i almost skipped the game at this point. But damn, the last bossfight was so damn worth it.
Story:
See for yourself. It´s great but no summary i can come up with can do this game justice.
However, the final boss is the actual goddamn pope. And his last phase is basically a bar fight.
