Another Crab’s Treasure
Our Community
About the GameAnother Crab’s Treasure is a soulslike adventure set in a crumbling underwater world. As Kril the hermit crab, you’ll need to wear the trash around you as shells to withstand attacks from enemies many times your size. Embark on an epic treasure hunt to buy back your repossessed shell, and discover the dark secrets behind the polluted ocean.
TRASH OR TREASURE?
In this undersea society, trash is not only a way of life, but a valuable resource, used for everything from fashion to firearms. But with the presence of trash comes a mysterious infection known as the Gunk, which could spell doom for the entire ocean.
LEARN FROM NATURE
As Kril explores the ocean, he’ll gain a variety of Umami Techniques—powerful attacks learned from the denizens of the seas. Punch your enemies with the overwhelming might of a Mantis Shrimp, ensnare them with the horrifying Bobbit Worm, and much more.
UNEXPLORED DEPTHS
The ocean goes deeper than one can imagine. Fight your way through kelp forests, coral reefs, sand castle cities, and even the unfathomable darkness of the deep-sea trenches, all in the name of getting back your prized shell.
PLAY AT YOUR OWN PACE
Designed to be an approachable experience for newer soulslike players as well as provide a challenge for hardcore fans, Another Crab’s Treasure offers something for any level of skill or time commitment. Assist options are provided for those seeking a less frustrating experience, but gluttons for punishment are sure to find the default game a challenge.
- Challenging soulslike-inspired combat
- A grand undersea world to explore
- Over 50 shells to try on and fend off attackers
- A variety of powerful Umami Abilities to smite your enemies

This game is phenomenal, and is the first action-adventure game I've been able to play in years without stressing myself out. For context, I'm disabled. My reaction time is significantly slower than these types of games expect you to have. Like I physically can't move my hands fast enough in any accurate manner.
So imagine how I felt when I heard that Aggro Crab was making this game. I know from playing Going Under that their accessibility options are second to none. I downloaded the demo, and. My god, the accessibility options turned a game I could usually never play into something I have to hold myself back from playing nonstop.
You can turn off losing microplastics (currency, needed for leveling). You can turn up your shell's durability in varying degrees. You can adjust how much damage you take. You can just. Cater the game to your needs. But the most important option to me by FAR is: You Can Slow Down The Game. That's it, that's the thing I've needed for YEARS to enjoy games like this. Just more time to dodge. More time to perceive what's happening and REACT IN TIME. It's amazing an overwhelming and more games should aim for this.
The characters are compelling and have such depth. The story has me utterly entranced. The combat? Oh baby, the combat is to die for. And there's so many ways to play! I've seen people go fast attacks only, or max out on big slow attacks and magic, or do like me and max out the Umami skills. You can be a glass canon or a steel wall. And it's always fun no matter what! Excited to replay this eventually but for now I'm taking my time. 100000/10 please god play this game. you will not regret it.

This is a Souls game for normal people. This is a game you can recommend to a friend who doesn't play many actions games to give them a taste for the genre. The combat is really well-paced, the RPG/progression mechanics are perfectly lightweight, and the challenge curve starts out rocky and grows exactly as it needs to. It also starts off cute and whimsical, but still manages to tell a serious story with a pretty profound message.
But crucially- and this is the highest praise I could ever levy at a video game- it's funny. Genuinely, wickedly, profoundly funny. Every NPC has a good joke. Every single piece of trash used for set dressing is an incredible reference. Magic in this world is called "Umami" and your magic stat is "MSG." Some of the jokes might hit better with certain audiences, but as someone who is a little jaded and a lot online, every single line had me in stitches.
I absolutely loved it and I think you will, too.

One of the best Souls games you can play. Like honestly. It's also nice to be in a world that isn't just filled with pain and misery but still has a good feeling challenge to it. We need more adorable souls games.

Ah yes, Lies of Sea.
My wife calls it Seakiro or Finding nioh.
My wife’s boyfriend calls it Dark shoals and Lords of the Sea.
For me it’s just Shellden Ring.
Although sometimes when I’m nostalgic and want to feel hopeless I just call it Floodborne.
Dark Souls, an incomprehensible game about fantasy nonsense: unremittingly grim and punishing.
Another Crab's Treasure, a game about the real life tragedy of our oceans being destroyed by junk: a fun and lighthearted romp.
It’s like Mr. Krabs, the video game.
When a souls crab joke turns into a full game.
This might be the first souls like with an actual Soul... so creative, stylized and colorful! It’s like "my first soulslike", one that's not going to kill you and frustrate you at every given opportunity. We’re ever closer to a SpongeBob soulslike. Can’t wait for Dark Shells: prepare to drown edition.
It reminded me of Little mermaid if Sebastian was a short swinging lunatic talking about under the sea.
Despite its pretty graphics attractive to kids and talk of caring for nature, this game's nothing but killing all animals that stand in the way. And I just love that. It’s amazing. Favorite game of the year so far. Beat DS1, 2, 3, and Elden Ring. This game is NOT that easy. Easier than some of the Dark Souls? Sure. At some points. Some of the bosses here took me 20+ tries. It's not just a breeze. It was just the right amount of challenging. The setting is unique and fun to explore, and it's difficult enough that this souls veteran had to walk away a few times. This is one of those games that I'm glad just exists. The devs seem to really care about putting out a genuine soulslike that's stable (I had no bugs, anyway), engaging, and fun.
You play as a hermit crab who is going on an adventure to try and get his shell back after it gets repossessed for not paying taxes. Unlike most souls-like games, the aesthetic is bright, cartoony, and playful. There is a wealth of nautical puns, the xp currency is “microplastics”, and you get different kinds of crab magic based on the type of garbage you’re currently using as a shell. The start is a wee bit slow but once you access the city and can start buying selling and start unlocking the skill trees the game really opens up. The amount of different shells, the hard and varied boss fights are extraordinary. It’s also surprisingly endearing, and made me realize that a lot of soulslikes are missing compelling platforming. And it's forgiving as well, if you fall you only lose a portion of health. On the other hand, this is where most of the jank in the game comes from.
The humor of this game was on point. Most of the jokes and references are well put together, I had a blast with it. It's the first Souls-like I really play because of the humor and the subject matter being close to my heart. It’s not the most challenging souls-like I’ve played, but there’s enough depth (that’s a sea pun) and challenge to keep it interesting. And if struggling isn’t your thing, they’ve even got accessibility options to make the challenge right for you; options from preventing xp loss, increasing defense and health, all the way to giving your crab a gun that can one-shot enemies.
The combat was also very satisfying once you got the hang of the parry timing and it has some really good bosses like Topoda, Roland, Inkerton. Really good final boss because unlike most souls games this fu*ker is someone you know and want to kill. Also since the protagonist has an actual personality and motivations it feels so good to go through a journey with him in comparison to other games where it feels most like murder hobo gonna murder. Like in most soul games half the bosses I am thinking like we have zero reason to fight each other.
I really loved this game a LOT. THE reason I kept playing all the way through til the end though was BECAUSE of the storytelling and the art style. The bright colors and puns were HUGE for me. Dark Souls is super dead in the color department. Everything is bleak in those worlds. But I absolutely was gripped by ACT's world. I love brighter colors, and I enjoy the concept of Dark Souls, so this was a marriage in heaven for me. This is honestly the kind of game Souls clones have needed for a long time. I've had enough of games just trying to one up in terms of difficulty or obtuse "lore" when what we really needed was a game that just took the piss out of the whole thing.
Scratches the souls like itch without burning too much of your time. Fun characters, cool world, fun souls-like parody elements. Actually felt heartfelt at times. The story is a commentary on environmental degradation using end of the world tropes from other souls like games as allegory. It's saying "we should keep fighting pollution and global warming even if we might already be over the hump where it could've made any difference." Get angry and do something about it even if it seems futile, even if you know it won't work. If you don't vibe with the perspective that it's too little, too late on global warming etc then yeah you won't appreciate the premise. I thought it was pretty cool. It’s a very satisfying journey- the story, the message, the development, the whole thing was fantastic to me.
Story was great, graphics were great, platforming aspects were challenging but fun! It occasionally felt more like a 3D platformer than a Souls-like game. It's just as much Spyro as it is Dark Souls. That's not a bad thing, but it might not be everyone’s style. Going around trying to find all the shells was fun too! I’m sure some folks will find small gripes here and there, but for me it was pure fun and it was a joy every time I started it up. The negative reviews in Steam honestly surprised me- it's an indie action game, it's not going to be perfectly polished. Also, you're a crab, the game is built more around blocking. In the end it’s legitimately a challenging souls-like game that happens to be wrapped in an adorable story and with really cute graphics. Definitely recommend it to anyone that likes a mix of Banjo Kazooie and Dark Souls. My sincere hope is that the colorful visuals and accessibility draw in new fans to a not always welcoming genre. Personally, as a guy that grew up with Season 1 Spongebob, studied Marine Biology as an undergrad, and loves video games like Dark Souls, I feel it was made for me so it’s a 10/10 for me, but I am super biased.
So is it worth shelling out 30 clams? I don't know anything about clams, but I can tell you with absolute certainty that this game is definitely worth 30 sand dollars!

Very fun Souls-like with funny and depressing elements. I loved the conversion of real sea creatures into enemies, lots of cool references and the length of the game is optimal in my eyes.
