Among the Sleep

Among the Sleep is a psychological horror game where you get to play as a two year old child. You get to experience the world through the eyes of a toddler with a vivid imagination that could easily scare your pants off. Welcome to an atmospheric horror game with an eerie feeling of helplessness. You are abruptly awoken one night and find the house completely dark and empty. You start searching for your mother, but she is nowhere to be found. What you find is a teddy bear that warns you that everything is not all right and that it is crucial to find out what is going on.

I was surprised by this game. I don't say that lightly, its a very short game, i completed the game in just over 2 hours. However the game is well paced and tells a interesting story regarding a very difficult subject matter. I am posting this review many months since i actually played the game, but the game has left such an impression that i can still remember the game like i played it just yesterday, hard to do these days.
If you want a solid game full of tension across the full 2 hours i recommend, if you want a game that lasts 30+ hours without substance then i donno, pick up far cry 5 or something...

I did not know what I was getting into when I started playing the game.
I saw the cute logo, and the screenshots - and it looked like a nice walking simulator with puzzles, which you play as a little kid.
Boy, was I wrong!
The game literally made my skin crawl!
Now I'm not sure that a true horror game fan will like this game.
Horror games have become longer and scarier in recent years, and people playing them become desensitized - needed bigger and longer portions of horror to enjoy.
This is not the case here.
The game is relatively short.
And much less scary than Outlast and the likes.
But for someone like me, not used to horror games - it was scary AF!
One negative thing I do need to mention about the game - is the nausea it causes (to people susceptible to it).
Most modern first-person games don't cause nausea, as they run pretty smoothly.
The last game I've experienced nausea in was "Black Mesa", being on an outdate/unoptimized game engine.
Unfortunately, Among the Sleep suffers from the same issue.
Somehow the jerkiness, and the climbing, just did not sit well with me. And I couldn't play it more than 1 hour at a time.
Other than that - it's everything the other reviewers mentioned.
And you should at least check it out (if you enjoy these kind of games).

When reality looks scarier than ghosts.

I was generously gifted this game by a viewer that takes pleasure out of watching me scream at scary games during Screamtober. But the most (unintentionally) scary thing about this game is definitely your teddy bear companion; he gives me the heebie jeebies and I do not trust that MF at all... I'm still convinced he's at fault for all the nightmarish things that happen in the game.
The story is simple enough and is played through the eyes of a toddler which I think they pulled off quite well. The environments are interesting as they are translated into what a toddlers "world" could look like to them.
Jokes, aside: $17 feels a bit steep for a game that can be casually beaten in less than 3 hours with no alternate endings or anything. I did, however, enjoy the game. Get it for $5 and I'd say it'd be worth it.
