Make Your Move! It is the height of the Cold War, a time of global uncertainty and civil unrest. You are Agent Alekhine, a highly skilled Russian assassin working alongside American CIA agents in a covert operation unsanctioned by the country you have served. With the tension of a nuclear standoff growing with each passing minute, your mission is clear…though how you accomplish it is anything but. Only one thing is certain: Time won’t stop, and it’s too late to go backward. As you unravel the conspiracy unfolding in front of your very eyes, the fate of America, and quite possibly the world, lies within your hands.

So fun and gameplayable. Some playable resources are just innovative. Cool story with a little historical depth too. Bugs and crashes are everywere, but I just dont mind, the whole game are really good and fun.

if you like splinter cell or hitman this is the game to buy.
Would need a few bugfix tho it crashes when loading autosave and sometimes random during missions.
cause of that i need to save often.

Not quite on the same level as the other Death To Spies games, but fun none the less.
Runs well on Linux.

What you pay for u get. Solid game, don't know why all the people are so negative about it. Just load the game through saved games not checkpoints bcs it can crash but asside that fact its really ok and it's fun. I mean it costs 14 euros, what do people expect, Hitman quality ?

Having come into this game with no knowledge of "Death To Spies" beyond the name, I have no clue why people say this is bad. It's rough, don't get me wrong, but not bad. I mean, I'm getting Professional or Wolfhound rankings in every level, it's not impossible (though I am save scumming a bit). It's very "Hitman is bought off Wish."
So, the downsides: The cutscenes outside of missions are stylised. The problem is, while it's a neat idea, it is kinda... Bad. It's just sepia still images, it's not super engaging, especially given they love to use action scenes. The disguise system is a little broken, you need like three disguises each level and there's no real hint as to what works where short of people A) shooting at you or B) Your suspicion bar shooting up. Plus, while you can guard or wait in disguise, they still see right through it, so it's pointless. Then there's instinct mode, which isn't actually that helpful for enemies (white is alive, yellow is "can see you", no idea what red is). It does tell you where items are or if a body is hidden, but that's not that helpful. Plus, you only have five ways to knock out enemies: chloroform (you can only use it twice), traq darts (risky and needs to be bought, but do thankfully work instantly), soporific (only for drinks), set pieces (rare) or using your ENTIRE slow filling instinct bar to choke them out. And while there is accident kills and points of interest, even on easy they're not highlighted and the map only shows a handful of NPCs (though targets are always on the map).
Now, what are the pros? Well, for starters, this game requires insanely little demand. It's about the same as all of the first four Hitman games, which is nice for those of us without strong PCs. The plot is interesting, not groundbreaking, but genuinely a nice spin on a historical event. You can "run" while sneaking, which is a mercy given slow sneaking was always a nightmare in the old Hitman games, and makes knocking out or killing enemies in stealth far easier. You're given a variety of items to start the missions with, some of which can be upgraded, and you're given more points for better rankings so it encourages you to do better similar to Hitman Blood Money's payment system. Plus, while using the entire instinct bar is annoying, it is nice to have the option to choke people out instead of running out of options and having to resort to sneaking (nigh impossible in some missions) or murder (bad for the ranking), and it also instantly refills should you complete an objective which has been handy on occasion. The variety of maps is also interesting, and while some remind me of levels in Hitman I'd much rather play Alekhine's maps because they're just less frustrating. Plus, having a whistle button just makes luring folk far easier, I play the pied piper and rush past the NPCs thanks to that, it's surprisingly more useful than you think.
Look, I'm not about to say that this game is going to blow your mind. It's got flaws, but it also has potential. You can see that they really did want this to be a good stealth game, but it slips up in places. Honestly, my biggest bugbear is the lack of being able to choke folk out all the time, waiting to knock people out is frustrating. But otherwise, I'm doing great in this and the achievements don't force you to break your keyboard playing on the hardest difficulty, so it's a nice alternative to everyone's barcode baldy. I'm not saying to buy it full price, but it's solid game to kill time with. Not life changing, not really new, but it's certainly not trash. It's cubic zirconia: It's not a diamond, but you can still be happy with it.
