⭐INVISIBILITY – are you tired of enemies seeing all your moves? Cast a spell and whoop… you disappeared. However, the AI can do it too.
⭐HEX-FREE BATTLES – test your tactics with a novel movement system where size matters and units aren’t constrained by artificial grids!
⭐OPEN WORLD – are you bored with the main storyline? No worries, you can always take a side-quest or play procedurally-generated battles. Play this game as you want!
⭐GLOBAL EVENTS that occur while exploring the World Map, à la Battle Brothers. This feature is still being developed and could serve to provide more lore and fun unit interactions conditional on the player’s party!
⭐FACTION BASES which can be upgraded as you explore the Age of Fear world. Investing in base upgrades will unlock additional recruitable units, skills and locations to explore!
⭐MERCENARIES – recruit your troops from multiple races and factions! Will a Dwarven Warrior work with a bloodthirsty Orc?
⭐ALIGNMENTS such as Evil and Holy. Units from opposite sides won’t like each other and may desert. A bit of diplomacy (or charisma!) is needed to manage such relationships.

⭐DEEP BATTLE MECHANICS – learn the basics in a hurry, then develop new strategies around a huge variety of skills, spells and battle hazards like neutral factions and environmental effects (yes, you can anger bystanders!).
⭐EASY TO MOD – create your own missions, or even full-fledged campaigns, to be shared with the Steam community!
⭐FANTASY STORYTELLING – get wrapped up in a spectacular storyline featuring a motley crew of characters, globetrotting adventures and fantasy shenanigans galore. All hand-illustrated!
⭐PERMANENT DEATH – accept the grim realities of death where all units that fall in battle stay dead… unless an evil Necromancer raises them as Zombies.
⭐ARTEFACTS AND RELICS – discover numerous unique weapons, armours, potions and treasures, with the rarest granting powerful OP skills and stat bonuses.
⭐ADVANCED AI – our AI is built upon a self-organizing network of agents and meta-heuristics algorithms (yes, we are PhD-smart!). Discover one of the most sophisticated AI systems you’ve ever played against!
⭐LOW HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS – run the game even on that old potato laptop of yours. Your stone-age computer is good enough!
⭐COLOR-BLIND MODE – a special mode with higher contrast and outlined fonts.
⭐…everything else we come up with! Purchase only if you want access to the latest features in the Age of Fear series, and please keep in mind that this is an evolving product.

Not the most aesthetically pleasing game out there, but it does a good job at immersing you in a life of a cold hearted necromancer obsessed with taking over the world.
Voice acting is like a decent audio book quality.
Music needs work - it plays joyful tavern music as the narration is going on where I'm piling up bodies and doing undead experiments. A bit dissonant.
But, the actual gameplay is great. Very fun strategy / tactical party-based rpg.

Great game, played all the campaigns, nice to see they where all merged into one game.
If you like tabletop battle games then this is for you, don't let the graphics fool you as there is plenty of enjoyment to be had. (though if the game had its graphics enhanced i could see a much large draw of people)
-There is a large selection of troops you can use and even options to capture enemy units or bribe.
-Lots of equipment to fit your hero's (or troops if you turn on the option under misc)
-Random fights along with your story battle's, so you can mess around with your army and just play randomly which i enjoy as lineral fights tend to bore me the random battles on the map are also a good way to rank up your troops.
-Random world events and fights,
A few personal grips,
-when i play certain campaigns i normaly keep fighting against the same enemy over and over again which can be boring (playing as Nairi and keep fighting undead in all zones!) I do fight other factions in random battles from time to time, but i tend to have 1 faction over the rest of them appear more often...for me its undead. Also the naga/water race faction RARELY appears which is a shame.
2nd gripe -there is only a small amount of mercenaries and capturable enemies, due to ironmind trait that alot of units get making it so you cannot play with all the units you'd like to obtain. (i really would like to play with an oracle in my Naga army) Would love to have an ability or spell that temporily disable ironmind so there would be a way to capture/bride units you normaly wouldnt have access to.
Not a grip...i just like dragons in fantasy games, specially strategy games.
Would be nice if there where tamable/capturable and so forth dragons, as there is only a bone dragon you can resurrect once killing off a black dragon (random event). i believe the 2nd game had a workshop mod that allows you to recruit dragons but the mod hasn't transfered to age of fear total as of yet (and i'm not so hot with mod creation to try my own hand at it)

First of all this is one great tactical game! It is very fun to play and very satisfying.
Your Units gain experience in battles, can be upgraded to higher forms, renamed and with an option enabled can wield weapons and armor like the heroes, (How ever this can lower the difficulty)
I never encountered problems with the game it is a solid engine that do not frees, have glitches even if I have it in secondary screen or alt tabbing.
Of the Price, Age of Fear: Total is not one game! This is the combination of Age of Fear 1-4, Each have 2 mayor campaign and DLC content. That is a lot of content!!!
I would recommend to try the Age of Fear Free open world, and if the Battle system is to your liking buying the Total Version. 60 dollar may sounds a lot, but it is the cumulative effort of the maker for 4 games dlc-s, and it is well worth it.
For reference I like this game so much I have all the games separately, I bought the Total version to have all content in one place.

The fact that this game is from an indie developer is mind blowing. This game may be the best buy I ve done in a long while. The 2d artwork is beautiful, the campaigns are so satisfying to complete, from awesome weapons to fireballs, from humans to ratmen, from random fights to epic boss battles, this game has it all. Any tactical rpg lover should give this game a try. If i could rate this game I would give it a 10/10, even compared to the high end games.

So I played more on the older version, and just replaying the original game at this point. Being the evil Necromancer is super fun: always having a cheap army at the ready only the dragons are really posing a threat to my army. I like the fact the world map has open up to do side missions and ignore the main campaign, I don't remember that being the case in the original game.
Radial base movement is rare for tactical games, I can only think a handful of other games that use it. Your heroes are going to be your most valuable units, and because lost conditions are usually to the campaign's lead survival, you will be cautious in using them.
The series routinely goes on 50% off sales, and can be run on the most resource limited machines.

Surprising amount of depth and setups for what's supposed to be a linear RPG game. I personally disable open world and random events because I don't want those intruding my campaign, but there are still several campaign related and unrelated stuffs to do. The game is also challenging on Normal, which I like. Overall worth its price, but buy the separated game if you think the price is too high.

Yeah, this game is pretty awesome and funny. I recommend it giving it a go.
Although some stuff may need tweaking, but the devs seem to be responsive to players.
