I bought this for the extra content in 100% OJ, and what I got was a bullet hell fighting game. It's the first I've seen, and the mechanics are great. One criticism is that clearing story-mode on hard unlocks absolutely nothing, despite the final boss being insanely difficult.

this game has great combat and it's intense and engaging, it's absolutely dead though but worth playing with a couple of friends to battle it out!

A Creative but Niche Fighter That Struggles to Fully Deliver
I went into Acceleration of SUGURI 2 expecting something fast and different, and yeah, it definitely delivers on that. But the more I played, the more I realized that while the idea is really cool, the execution doesn’t always keep up.
The whole concept is mixing a fighting game with bullet hell mechanics, and on paper, that sounds awesome. In practice, it means you’re constantly flying around in a small arena, dodging projectiles, managing energy, and trying to land hits on your opponent. It’s fast, chaotic, and sometimes honestly a bit overwhelming. At the beginning, I felt like I had no control, just reacting and hoping things worked out.
After some time, I started to understand the systems better. There is depth here, especially with how energy works and how you time attacks and dodges. When things click, it feels satisfying. You can outplay opponents, predict movement, and actually feel like you’re improving. But getting to that point takes effort, and the game doesn’t really help you get there. The onboarding is pretty weak, so a lot of it comes down to trial and error.
The character variety is decent, and each one changes how you approach fights, which I liked. It adds some replay value and gives you reasons to experiment. But even with that, matches can start to feel repetitive once you understand the core loop. There’s not a huge amount of variation beyond mastering mechanics.
The biggest issue for me is how niche it feels. If you’re not already into fast-paced, reaction-heavy games, it can be hard to enjoy. It’s not very forgiving, and it doesn’t ease you in. I can easily see people bouncing off it early just because it feels too chaotic or unclear.
The story mode didn’t do much for me either. It’s there, but it feels more like background content than something worth paying attention to. Without prior knowledge of the characters, it’s hard to get invested, and I mostly just skipped through it.
Visually, it’s fine, the anime style works, and the effects look decent, but during fights, things can get messy. There were moments where I lost track of what was happening just because of how much was on screen. The audio is solid, nothing amazing, but it fits the pace and keeps the energy up.
Overall, I think it’s a decent game with a strong core idea, but it’s held back by accessibility issues and lack of broader appeal. If you’re willing to put in the time, you’ll probably enjoy it. If not, it can feel more frustrating than fun.
The Good:
- Unique concept blending fighting and bullet hell gameplay
- Satisfying once you understand the mechanics
- Characters offer different playstyles and strategies
The Bad:
- Steep learning curve with poor onboarding
- Repetitive feel after extended play
- Niche appeal that won’t suit most players
Ratings:
Overall: 7/10
Visual: 7/10
Gameplay: 8/10
Story: 5/10
Audio: 7/10
Playability: 7/10
