New Gundam Breaker

Normally I would tell people that VNs are the worst kinds of entertainment. After playing New Gundam Breaker that thought is only reaffirmed. Dont be fooled, this game is a VN first and gundam game second. The best part of the game is setting up your abominable machine that has a Parkinsons Disease based targeting system. And I know this is a big personal gripe but everyone in this high school has Sameface Syndrome. Apart from some hair style changes and maybe one or two gradients of a difference with the slightly different colored eyes it's all the same face and it drives me crazy. For the $49.99 that was spent on this steaming pile Hindu Curry I could've had an amazing meal of Sweet-n-Sour Pork, Pork Fried Rice, An order of four pork baos, and still have enough change left over to get a Thai ice tea and a dozen dumplings for the road. I give it points for having a great deal of gundam parts to work with, but everything else surrounding the customization is just terrible. If I wanted to play a terrible game with amazing customization I'd go install APB Reloaded.

I would recommend this to GUNPLA fans. (When it's on sale)
I honestly could care less about the story, and the combat can be a little awkward.
But the ability to collect parts and kitbash mobile suits, paint them whatever color you want, and name them *or even go as far as to create your own lore* becomes pretty addicting if you really enjoy the hobby or just the mech designs themselves.
Going into this as a Gunpla hobby sim, I found way more enjoyment.

It's a fun game the campaign is not compelling it is just a highschool setting. Combat wise a major complaint among even other players is targeting. When you first start out it's a nightmare until you go to the options menu and click off box targeting. An advice while playing press the Q button to click the targeting on and off. There is no single target lock on and it just bites when you are about to take down a target only to have the auto target fix on a full health enemy instead. Or have a special attack go off your intention was to hit a certain target only to then have the auto target hit something else. I like the building part and the painting part too. I like to assemble parts for the kind of attack pattern I wish to do or making the choice between looking cool or getting another part that can help with the build I am going with attack wise.

pros: It's a decent game with a nice selection of Gunpla and customization options. Story is lengthier than expected. Stages are nice and short.
cons: controls are not the best (crate lock-on is terrible so turn it off). Stages get too messy with many suits at once. Could have added a few more suits instead of dupes like Vulcan Pods.
All in all, it's a game for Gunpla lovers so if that's your thing might as well get this. If you're just into Gundam or are looking for similar games get it on discount or just skip and go with Cross Rays.
