Daymare: 1998
DAYMARE: 1998 is a third-person survival horror with hardcore survival mechanics and hard to kill enemies. It requires a strategical approach to combat and puzzles and offers a multi-character point of view on the story, revealing a deep and obscure lore. The scene is set with a secret research facility, a deadly chemical weapon and a special security team to investigate this incident with the potential to become much more than just a security breach. Follow the steps of an elite soldier, a helicopter pilot and a forest ranger, as they play out their roles in an event that transforms one peaceful small town into a deadly zone and its citizens into bloodthirsty monsters. Take the creatures down first, before looking for any clues and evidence to bring more sense to the mess. Keep track of your itinerary, as resources are scarce in a situation like this! Anything can happen when your daymares become real… Fans of the iconic cinematographic brands and classical gloomy survival horror games of the '90s will be thrilled, seeing how DAYMARE: 1998 recreates the atmosphere of the most beloved works from the end of the millennium and places a typical yet fresh story in the middle of it. The plot unfolds through the eyes of various characters, putting players in the shoes of different personalities that will guide them through their theories and doubts about the situation.

Honestly i am having a great time with this game. The dark, eerie atmosphere really pulls you in, and it's got that classic survival horror feel. Creeping through pitch-black halls with just a flashlight feels nerve racking in the best way.
The enemies are genuinely creepy, and the scares hit just right without feeling cheap. Daymare: 1998 keeps the pressure on, making every encounter a tense fight for survival. Definitely a solid pick if you like your horror dark and intense.
I'm still pretty new to the full on horror games but Daymare's creepy vibes really made me feel the fear.

One of the best first era RE clones with modern quality of life features and enough options to customize your play style.

Daymare: 1988 is a survival horror game that was heavily influenced by Resident Evil franchise to the extent that it has a large amount of references scattered throughout the levels as you continuously try to advance the storyline. The premise is relatively complex and enough to get the party going. However, even though I still recommend this game after I finished the campaign, it has some glaring issues that will probably put off most of the fans of the genre.
But first, let's go through the positives:
* great atmosphere - I really liked it, it does capture the grimness of survival horror, at least for me.
* solid gun reloading system and overall gun play - it feels very satisfying to shoot and kill stuff with somewhat complex ammo management, but it feels absolutely realistic and it's something that is a standout.
* graphics - it looks good and plays even better, everything seems smooth enough.
Let's talk about the negatives, and boy there are some that are tough to chew through:
* somewhat simplistic gameplay - most of the time enemies are right in front and easy to kill, low sense of danger.
* too easy on normal - once you figure out how this game plays it's a breeze to go through.
* small enemy variety - small pool of zombies to encounter - tolerable for a relatively small budget game.
* stupidly easy boss fights - you never actually feel threatened by the enemy as there are usually infinite ammo supply at
the boss arena.
* slow inventory management - you do most of reloading through inventory which is a bitch to do.
* borderline terrible voice acting - almost a staple in survival horror if you take a look back to the original.
* blatant copycat of many RE games mashed up into one - I literally found Kendo's gun shop in game.
* Weak cringe ending - Personally I didn't like it, it's a bit unexpected but the reveal at the end is not worth it.
Even after all this, if you're a fan of survival horror you'll find enough in this game to like - at least enough to do a complete walkthrough. Gonna probably play Sandcastle at some point, just to follow the story through.
6/10 - Could be done much better with more budget. It's not a terrible game, but it's not great either. In the end it's best to see for yourself.

This is one game that could have been alot better with a little bit more a budget. The gameplay and graphics are on point however everything else suffers especially cutscene quality and character models just look cartoony with their awkward animations. The gunplay is excellent however with a reload system I think other games should implement.

I really enjoyed what I played of this game. Sadly a lot of people accuse this game of being a Resident Evil clone but in actuality that game originally started out as a fan remake of Resident Evil 2 before Capcom sent them a cease and desist and then invited them over to the studio so they can give input of RE2 Remake. Then Capcom lent them some staff to help with the game.

Chill first person shooter with zombies. It's < $5 right now - it's a no brainer! Pick it up & enjoy.
Puzzles are a bit mid to workout but otherwise can't complain for the price!

Daymare 1998 is pretty much a Temu RE4 but a decent one. It has pretty decent atmosphere, level design and graphics but it falls short with character models and voice acting. Worth a playthrough if you're wanting to play a RE4 clone.
