Sniper Elite V2 Remastered is essentially the same game as the original, with slight visual improvements that bring it a little more in line with modern expectations. The core gameplay remains intact, and fans of the original will find the same stealth mechanics that made the game engaging. However, not all missions allow for a 100% stealth approach, which can be a bit disappointing for those looking to ghost through the entire campaign.
The sniping mechanics are still fun, offering satisfying long-range kills, though it's worth noting that the experience isn't particularly realistic, especially on lower difficulty settings where the challenge is reduced. On the plus side, the remastered edition includes all the DLCs, adding extra content and missions that enhance the overall package.
In summary, Sniper Elite V2 Remastered is a solid choice if you're looking to revisit the classic game with some extra content and improved visuals. Just don't expect a completely overhauled experience.

One of my fondest memories of playing this series is from the original version back in 2013.
Loved the stealth game play & bullet mechanics - with varying options from arcade style to real simulations (bullet drop physics) - so much that it got me hooked on the series over the past decade.
So going back to the updated version (remake) of V2 on the Steam Deck has been a lot of fun.
The game is fairly linear compared to the open world style of the later games in the series, so it's bit shorter in overall duration.
Besides a slight tweaking of the controller settings (default doesn't work with SD controller, so you'll need to change that), the game runs perfectly on native configuration on the Steam Deck.
Battery life will be roughly 2 hrs on this setting.
Highly recommended.

V2 is better than the original Sniper Elite, but not really the sniper/stealth game that was promised on release. The enemies are somewhat glitchy, and almost always stupid with great accuracy and sight from long range. Also after replaying the V2 in the Remastered form, I could not tell you what’s remastered it’s the same game and even runs out of the OG’s game folder??? I would recommend playing in co-op if you do play! 6/10

Great game!
Played the campaign through with my friend and we had a blast.
This game along with Ghost Warrior franchise is what made the 'bullet cam' famous, and it's so fun to see.
Each mission of the campaign is well made and the 4 DLC missions that come with this edition are great experimental missions that toy more with stealth and player choice of vantage points.
First timers to Sniper Elite difficulty may have trouble determining distance but after a while played on the lower difficulties the player will naturally get the feel for it.
Aside from the campaign there are additional modes for Co-Op play including Overwatch which is a favourite of my friend and I. One is the sniper who must guide the other player who is unequipped with a rifle to their objective.
Multiplayer is unfortunately dead however at least 2 players can have fun with a PvP session.

what i like:
it was fun while playing co-op despite its short comings but not so sure about the solo experience. keep it locked to co-op only for maximum fun. also the game had lots of subtle details especially considering that the game is very old, so props to that.
what i didn't like:
very difficult to play for long hours as it disconnects mid game most of the time mainly due to the client side issue. had to relaunch the game every time after completing a certain level which was quite annoying. the prone button was also very glitched as my character mostly stoop up while prone on a flat ground.
overall a 6/10 game.

Sniper Elite V2 Remastered delivers a compelling remaster of the classic WWII sniping game, offering enhanced graphics, improved performance, and all the DLCs packed into one neat bundle. As a fan of tactical shooters and WWII games, here's my take on this remastered version:
Pros
+ Remastered Visuals: The remastered graphics are a significant improvement over the original. Enhanced textures, lighting, and character models make the game visually appealing and bring new life to the war-torn environments of Berlin.
+ X-Ray Kill Cam: The iconic X-ray kill cam is as satisfying as ever. Watching your perfectly placed shot tear through bones and organs in slow motion never gets old. It’s a unique feature that adds a visceral thrill to the sniping experience.
+ All DLC Included: Sniper Elite V2 Remastered comes with all the DLCs from the original game, including the fan favorite ”ASSASSINATE THE FÜHRER” mission, along with the new playable characters.
+ Photo Mode: The new photo mode is a great addition for those who enjoy capturing stunning in-game moments. You can pause the action, adjust the camera, go frame by frame and apply filters to create beautiful screenshots.
+ Multiplayer and Co-op: The remastered version retains the multiplayer and co-op modes, providing a variety of ways to enjoy the game with friends. The added graphical fidelity enhances these modes, making them more immersive.
Cons:
- Limited Innovation: While the remaster improves on the original, it doesn’t introduce many new features or game play innovations. Veterans of the series may find it more of a nostalgic trip than a fresh experience.
- Almost no players are in MP matches, you likely won't find matches with randoms. You need friends who want to play this co-op.
- Dated Mechanics: Despite the visual overhaul, some game play mechanics feel dated. Movement and AI behaviors can be clunky, and some missions can feel repetitive after a while.
- The storyline is fairly straightforward, sometimes lacks depth.
Sniper Elite V2 Remastered is a worthwhile upgrade for fans of the original and newcomers alike. The visual improvements, combined with the thrilling sniping mechanics and comprehensive DLC package, make it a solid addition to any shooter fan’s library. While some elements feel a bit dated, the core experience remains enjoyable and engaging. If you’re looking to revisit WWII through the scope of a sniper rifle, this remaster is definitely worth your time.
