Angels of Amsterdam
“Angels of Amsterdam” is a VR-experience which brings you to a truthful recreation of a 17th century café in Amsterdam. Here, you share key episodes in the lives of Maritgen Jans, Juliana, Elsje Christiaens and Pussy Sweet: four fierce angels who were not getting their fair share of the Golden Age’s gold and took their destiny in their own hands. The characters respond to eye-contact, and share their tales in the form of song, dance or musical performance.
These stories show the dark side of the wealth and liberty which is generally associated with the port- and trading city of Amsterdam. The power relations between rich and poor, as well as between men and women in that young capitalist society also concerns us. Details from these stories now may seem odd, but the essence effortlessly transcends time frames. These stories have brought us to where we are now.
Angels of Amsterdam is a critically acclaimed Immersive experience (VR), which had its world premiere at the 78th Venice Biennale. It is the first Dutch VR-work ever to be selected for the official competition. The work has received praise for bringing together historical storytelling and groundbreaking VR-innovation in an unprecedented way. The work was created by Avinash Changa, VR maker and director of WeMakeVR, and Anna Abrahams, filmmaker and VR programmer for EYE Film Museum in Amsterdam.

Echoing the other reviews: A short (14 min) experience in which two women sing/dance via partially impressive and partially janky photogrammetry visuals. Both scenes play out without much explanation... until the end, where you get a short recap of who they were and what was going on. I'd also like to see the "censored" content - can't be worse than some of the other junk I've encountered on Steam - shame it's missing from this release. Still, it's free, and sort of interesting. Worth a play through. Thumbs: UP!

Really beautifully executed atmospheric and well lit scenes and some of the best volumetric capture you'll see in VR right now. Shame some content is unavailable. Maybe a bit thin on content, the narrative is quite light, and not to everyone's taste, but this is a quality production.

There are 4 stories about the women in Amsterdam, apparently each with a tragic tale of how life was miserable for women back in that time. However, 2 of the 4 stories are censored and you cannot see them. Why? Have these devs ever seen the kind of trash that is allowed on the Steam store. They truly don't need to censor anything released on the Steam store. It's like the Wild, Wild West out here.
Anyways, it's gaze-based navigation. Whole thing took me 14 minutes since half the content is missing. Parts of the holographic images stretch in VR and it makes for some interesting imagery. You know it's over if all your hear is music and you look down at the bar counter and see the credits rolling down by there (it's easy to miss).

Before I played Angels of Amsterdam, I had a small pp, no friends, no gf, depression, and no life. These things havent changed, but the game is pretty good

I little rough around the edges, by that I mean, the lady fellating the carrot isn't in volumetric video form like everyone else. Otherwise, this is a quite impressive VR media amalgamation. My favorite scene was the lady with the large bazooms. (See Figure 3 in the steam store.)
