There is now a new mod that fixes ALL the issues from this bad PC port here :

BEFORE YOU BUY!
This game is great but the problem is that this game can only run with 4 CPU cores. Why? Because I heard that there's a bug in the code or something.
But don't worry there's a fix. Open Steam > Open Task Manager > Go to Details > Find steam.exe > Right Click on it > Click on affinity > Click off All CPU Cores > Only turn on CPU 0, 1, 2, 3 > Click accept
And there you go, you can play Prototype! When you're done playing just turn on all the CPU cores (don't worry it doesn't damage your PC if you do it a bunch of times). You can also install mods if you don't want to do all of that.

only playable with this mod

As someone who has had trouble just getting this game to run on pc I will say that if you own a steam deck the game will run perfectly fine as well as the second game. Played this game back on ps3, loved it so much. Sucks that the pc port sucks but at least they run great on the steam deck.

Not the greatest PC ports around, requiring a patch from the Nexus to get it working on modern systems, but a solid game nonetheless. It has a certain hopeless & bleak atmosphere that you don't see often in games and it really works in tandem with the story.
Gameplay wise it's really fun and empowering when you can turn into a human blender in a moment's notice, shredding through enemies with your sick ass powers.
Good game, Prototype 3 or a remake when???

One of my favorite childhood games that I still enjoyed the last time I played it back in 2022, I personally didn't mind having to tweak a few settings to get this playing but I understand not everyone shares this sentiment so I'll let you know right away
THIS GAME DOESN'T WORK WELL ON MODERN COMPUTERS UNLESS YOU FIX IT.
Now with that out of the way, the game has many challenges that reward you with points that you can spend on upgrades, the upgrades range from offensive to defensive powers / abilities. You can combine multiple techniques in a mission to accomplish the goal, and yes you heal yourself by ABSORBING your foes.
I've played a lot of video games in my 22 years of gaming but Prototype is a game that has never been replicated to this day. It was and still is unique and it is a really amazing and fun game.
Do I recommend this? To players who don't mind having to fix a few things to get it working, YES
To people who can't be bothered to do any such thing, NO you won't be happy with this purchase
My final verdict:
9.5/10
Timeless classic, I only deducted a few points because it is a game that came out in the late 2000s and most games of that era still run fine on modern computers the lack of attention by developers is the only reason I deducted the score otherwise the game itself is flawless

Dumb fun - but a product of its time. The story is fine, but I felt like it went on for too long and didn't have much to say after the halfway mark.
