Windforge
WindForge is a side-scrolling block-building game where you explore hostile skies in an ever-changing Steampunk world. Everything you see can be created or destroyed, creating an RPG without barriers that rewards creative problem solving and improvisation. Take off in fully customizable airships, and embark on a journey of discovery and survival that will take you to the heart of the world and beyond. The modern way of life on Cordeus is reliant on refined Sky Whale oil. Everything from the machines used daily, to the food that is eaten, is ultimately dependent on the oil. At current rate, the noble species will face certain extinction in a few short years. To avoid falling back into the dark ages, civilization must find a new source of energy.

This is an older Side-Scrolling game that was released via crowdsourcing originally.
Like it says, everything can be mined destroyed or built, and the entire concept revolves around crafting an airship, by building it out of materials you mine yourself, steal off of other ships, or make in your own forges.
You level up by gathering unique items that increase your stats, and crafting potions from certain items you find around the map. You can also buy your levels from trainers, but you have to find them, and some are hard to locate.
It's fun, and a great time-waster.
For the price-point, it still holds up as a decent sidescrolling RPG.
The most fun I had was flying a hollowed-out Whale carcass around and mining out entire Skylands.
11/10, would poach again.

This game could have been great, standing besides the giants like Minecraft and Terraria, but sadly it hasn't received the love its concept deserved. The game is filled with both horrible mistakes and genius ideas.
The weird 2.5D perspective and messy artstyle are probably the most common reason why most folks never give it a try. To be honest, visual clarity suffers a lot because of it and it's just not pleasant to look at in the slightest. The balancing is a joke, You can die in half a second no matter what gear or skills you have, but you can also instantly restore your health to full as long as you have nuts left in your inventory. Game is so riddled with bugs, but most of the ones blocking your progress can be circumvented. The game is clearly not finished and it shows in every aspect of the game.
What this game excels at is the airship building. Every single thing you can place has its own weight, buoyancy, resistances and durability values. It's the single thing which makes this game memorable and fun. The world is interesting, but underdeveloped. Exploring the few biomes the game has to offer for the first time, while fun on its own, only leave you wanting more.
I hate it when people say "this game is bad, but had extreme potential" when talking about every single failed open world survival crafting game, but this one is really deserving of these words. I suggest playing this game, not to have fun, but to get mad over what it could have become if things turned out slightly differently 10 years ago.

Pretty cool despite occasionally crashes
Crash seems to be enemy related, doing a save after combat seems to prevent it

Do you like building things? Collecting stuff? Shooting bandits? Did you ever want to captain your own steampunk airship? Did you ever want to make one out of meat? Do you like whales? Do you hate whales?
If you answered "yes" to any of the above, then this game is for you.
It's a little jank, and a lot of fun. Build your ship however you want, and steal from bandits after you blow their ****ing ship out of the sky because who the **** do they think they are anyway?
Give this one a go because at it's price-point, not a lot can go wrong.

It is a crudish game, but I enjoyed playing it. There's so much cool stuff regarding ship building and some situations that tend to happen where you have to fix things up and manouvre about on the fly, and the grappling is genuinely very neat. I love the adventurous mood of swinging around and shooting the grappling hook at a nearby surface to elegantly rapel down, and the destructive environments make for a lot of fun moments.
I had some lag occur in the temples, for which I had to re-load every now and again. I did reach a point where I thought I was finding making enough money in the game tedious, but turns out I just needed to put more attention into the crafting systems to find ways to move on.
I have chosen not to keep going with the game, since I could see the gameplay loop coming up too predictable and I guess it didn't excite me that much, but I'm still really happy with how my overall experience turned out and I think it's a cool game.
