The Survivalists
A World of Adventure and Possibilities!
The island is alive! Your newfound home will change with day/night cycles as you explore and uncover its secrets. Hunt (or be hunted by!) animals for food and an array of mythical enemies, who aren’t necessarily pleased to see you. Get quests from a Mysterious Stranger or find them washed up on the shore. Prepare to trek into a procedurally generated wilderness, with a variety of biomes, for an adventure that’s unique to every player.
Build Together, Survive Together
Finding the perils of island life too much or just looking to share your building expertise with friends? The Survivalists has you covered! Complete joint adventures, gain loot, trade and ultimately survive together and as you and up to three fellow castaways explore an island paradise.
Monkey See, Monkey Do!
If you’re in need of a builder, a lumberjack or even a soldier, the monkeys on the island can be tamed and trained to help you with everyday tasks or back you up on raids to a fanatic camp! The Mimic System means a wide variety of functions can be performed by your banana loving friends, with monkey management becoming key to surviving the island’s challenges.
Get Crafty
The secret to survival is to make the most of the resources around you. Whether that’s piecing together a primitive axe to chop wood or mixing up a refreshing fruit smoothie to keep the hunger at bay, you can discover recipes and expand your options across food, item or structure crafting trees.
Run the Gauntlet
Looking for an epic sword to hang on your hut wall or want to lay waste to encroaching hostiles? What you seek could be in one of the many labyrinths scattered around the island. However, getting your hands on the loot won’t be easy so any would-be raiders will need to prepare for their treasure hunting crusade.

Starts out great but then falls off hard.
The games story progression revolves around purely selling items and only killing trash mob orcs for gold to buy the key items that are required to open the temples that have all of the key items needed to progress the story. Why aren't the temple keys craftable? or earned through exploration?
How can you make a survival exploration game but lock all of the story progressing items behind a shop? what a silly decision.
The exploration is a lot of fun. Fighting is fun. Commanding my monkey army to automate farms and fight with me is fun.
Grinding money because all items that advance the story are locked to a store? the opposite of fun. It feels so backwards compared to the rest of the game where exploration and gathering materials is encouraged. The most efficient way of advancing the story is automating monkeys to autofarm crops to sell to the npc so you can buy temple keys since the object of the game is to escape the islands. At which point I just feel like afking is the most suitable way of progressing the game and now i'm asking myself where the gameplay is and why i'm wasting my time with this game, which is sad because everything else is a lot of fun.
I have all of the best gear that can naturally be earned through exploration and crafting. All of my monkeys have sharp golden swords too. And i'm still over 17k coins away from the next temple key.
As a purely sandbox game without the shop and the story locked to it, it's a lot of fun.

hehe, Monkey go BONK
The Survivalists is a survival game that you play as a castaway freeing monkeys so they work for you and help you escape this forsaken archipelago with tiered island ranging from starter friendly island to "WHY WON'T YOU DIE?" every time you fight an enemy there. You could also just stay at the starter island and build whatever you feel like, or maybe make a boat base in the middle of the ocean.
Anyway you choose to play, there are a few tiers of progression you must follow to grab more resources, as there is no creative mode that I'm aware of: sticks and stones, starter; iron, from island 2; gold, from island 3; Sharpened, from island 4; and finally, Elemental, from NPCs. All tools can be crafted and repaired once you unlock their recipes by crafting the one before it.
But the most important resource will always be monkey labor. You can give a banana to one of your monkeys, do anything like mine, chop, attack, put items into a chest, put items into crafting station, water plants, harvest plants, plant seeds, build or craft and they'll copy what you just did until you tell them to stop and as long as they have the correct tool in hand. You lay the building plans down of your castle and put a chest nearby with the stuff you need to build it, then you make a monkey or two put the resources in the blueprints and the others to build; suddenly, they get +100 IQ points and start building (faster and better than you) the whole thing. You could also just make them repair your stuff once you drop it on the floor, like I did.
The little things that you can tell your monkeys to do makes all the difference in the grind for the endgame and the ending.
Now, for the achievements:
Get all 4 pieces of the Escape Plan
Get all Elemental Weapons from the NPCs
Get all crafting recipes for Manual Crafting, Campfire, Crafting Table, Pan, Building, Furnace
Use the monkeys for a few tasks
Find 30 story pieces and treasures
4 Multiplayer achievements
And a few challenges like killing a Shark.

I don't understand all the hate and complaint about the lack of content. Yes, the UI isn't fancy and the plot is quite straight forward, but I think it's just enough. It's a very cute and fun game. I've spent about 60 hours to 100% the game and getting all of the achievements. Had a ton of fun with my husband. I've got it on sale and I think it's worth it. My husband and I also don't experience any bugs, data corruption or connection issue while playing together.
