METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN
Konami Digital Entertainment continues forth the ‘METAL GEAR SOLID V Experience’ with the latest chapter, METAL GEAR SOLID V: The Phantom Pain. Ushering in a new era for the franchise with cutting-edge technology powered by the Fox Engine, MGSV: The Phantom Pain will provide players a first-rate gaming experience as they are offered tactical freedom to carry out open-world missions. Nine years after the events of MGSV: GROUND ZEROES and the fall of Mother Base, Snake a.k.a. Big Boss, awakens from a nine year coma. The year is 1984. The Cold War serves as the backdrop as nuclear weapons continue to shape a global crisis. The METAL GEAR SOLID team continues to ambitiously explore mature themes such as the psychology of warfare and the atrocities that result from those that engage in its vicious cycle. One of the most anticipated games of the year with its open-world design, photorealistic visual fidelity and feature-rich game design.

I really liked the addition of Duran Duran's "Invisible" in this game. I set it as my helicopter music.

walking by the wall
(Shy one) the shadows will not fall
(Shy one) is silently ignored
(Quiet one) discouraged by the noise
(Quiet one) living without choice
(Quiet one) is a life without a voice
When you can't even say my name
Has the memory gone? Are you feeling numb?
Go on, call my name
I can't play this game, so I ask again
Will you say my name?
Has the memory gone? Are you feeling numb?
Or have I become invisible?
the dreamers wish away
(Hindsight) it's falling on my face
(Highlights) the shape of my disgrace
When you don't hear a word I say
As the talking goes, it's a one-way flow
No fault, no blame
Has the memory gone? Are you feelin' numb?
And have I become invisible?

No one hears a word they say
Has the memory gone? Are you feelin' numb?
Not a word they say
But a voiceless crowd isn't backin' down
When the air turns red
With a loaded hesitation
Can you say my name?
Has the memory gone? Are you feelin' numb?
Have we all become invisible?

I just CQC'd a Donkey, then got in my fully pimped out gold helicopter that plays Bowie over the loud speakers
Literally 100% worth $20 dollars right there

"Man does not live in a country, he lives inside a language... Do not be mistaken, the fatherland is language and nothing else." - Emil Cioran.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is a game of profound, haunting contradictions. It is simultaneously the most mechanically perfect and the most narratively fractured entry in Hideo Kojima's legendary saga. It presents a philosophical ghost story about identity, language, and the cycle of vengeance, wrapped in the greatest sandbox infiltration gameplay ever created.
The game’s genius lies in its unparalleled, systemic gameplay freedom. Afghanistan and Africa are not just maps; they are vast, reactive playgrounds. Every mission is a complex puzzle with a thousand solutions. Will you approach at night with a silenced tranq pistol, fulton enemies to build your private army, call in an airstrike, or use a decoy to create a distraction? The tools are endless, and the game empowers you to be truly creative. The Mother Base management is addictive, turning every captured soldier and resource into a tangible piece of your growing, silent empire.
Yet, this brilliant gameplay chassis carries a story that feels, appropriately, like a phantom limb. The narrative is hauntingly sparse and frustratingly incomplete. Key themes- the loss of identity, the manipulation through language, the birth of a legend from a lie- are presented with powerful subtlety (the iconic "You're talking to yourself!" line, the vocal cord parasites) but the plot itself is skeletal, with crucial arcs truncated and relegated to cassette tapes. The infamous Chapter 2, padded with repetitive "hard mode" missions, undermines its own poignant themes of cyclical, meaningless conflict.
Metal Gear Solid V is a game where silence speaks louder than words, and the narrative's emptiness becomes its greatest strength. Through its unfinished storylines and fragmented cassette tapes, Kojima crafts a piercing parable about the illusion of revenge and the nature of legend - all wrapped in flawless gameplay where every silenced shot becomes a philosophical statement.

When I was younger I told my mum about this game, she works with older people as a nurse and she said that phantom itch is worse than phantom pain but I told her she was stupid because that wouldn't have made for a good game title
