Molecats
Аn indirect-control tile-twisting puzzled adventure …with traps!
Molecats is a challenging indirect-control puzzle game that takes place in the quirky and beautiful world of… Molecats!
Molecats are sort of cat-mole hybrids. They are a bunch of gawky fellows who like mushrooms, marching and adventures of all kind! Molecats spend their time digging into nearby caves and gathering delicious ‘shrooms and shiny relics, occasionally getting lost in the process.
Your goal is to guide Molecats through the underground by taking control of the environment and changing the path they follow. On their way, Molecats will face lots of dangerous traps, spooky monsters and tricky challenges and meet a whole bunch of strange but interesting characters.
Features:
- Indirect control via level tiles.. Rotate tiles to connect paths; apply special powers to tiles to make Molecats run, stop, or walk in opposite direction.
- Simple but challenging. Simple game mechanics at its base with little twists creating more challenging pathfinding puzzles.
- Peace! Traps and monsters don’t kill, but make your life way more complicated.
- “Nonfailure” gameplay style. You can’t actually lose this game, but if you mess up, you will end up facing even more puzzles.
- Tons of secrets! Each level features secondary goals, trophies, mysterious unlockables, special relic collections and hidden locations plus secret levels with unique game mechanics!

Tag "Casual" is definitely not suitable for this game. It is a true hardcore old school puzzle with a lot of things to do and plenty of different mechanics to explore and learn. Despite giving it a positive review, I can't recommend Molecats for everyone. If you want to play some mindless nice-looking casual time killer, you should absolutely stay away from this game.
Turning to actual gameplay, it is really difficult to describe it - it would be the best to try it yourself. Several first levels can be deceptively easy, however, difficulty rises really quickly and in no time you start to use levers for rotating tiles, avoid Molecat-eating flowers, use some kinds of multidimensional elevators and so on. In addition, controls are steadily becoming more sophisticated while you progress through the game because of acquiring some additional powers to use.
Finally, be aware of the fact that this game has just recently been released in Early Access. That is why it still has some issues with controls, some hints and indicators can be quite unclear and the game even crashed for me once. Therefore, it can be better to wait for a full release if you want a smooth experience. On the other hand, developers are quite active and responsive. For example, I had some issues with my xbox360 controller, which were solved with a patch in less than a day.
So, does this game worth its price tag? Absolutely!
Is it suitable for everyone? No.
Nonetheless, I totally recommend giving it a try if you like complicated puzzles with unique gameplay.
UPD. Have just finished all the levels available. Have to say that the second chapter was a lot more fun for me; it has some really interesting and enjoyable puzzles. Looking forward to new levels!

This game is much harder and smarter than it looks. There are pretty good idea with polished implementation and hard, very hard puzzles. I hope I could bite it, but at present I get stuck. :)

Played this game in Early Access for a long time. The game is much harder than it looks for the first time, but at the same time, once you understand how it works you enjoy the game more and more. The sound and art are perfect.

I work in game industry and I really like to discover something intersting, like this game. I prefer casual games and I really like the Molecats' gameplay. Fascinating story, really nice graphics&music, great and fun atmosphere. Higly recommended.

Not a game for me, but maybe for the young ones out there. I hate the audio but the gameplay was quite interesting in those 10 minutes that I played, so I'm giving out a positive review afterall.

Kind of like Lemmings, except the lil' guys aren't creepy as heck.

Cute, quirky yet challenging, Molecats is the tastiest indie mushroom.
