Usagi Yojimbo: Way of the Ronin is the new game based on the classic Dark Horse Comic Graphic Novel by Stan Sakai, and seen in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles over the years. This is an old school, simple, fun Retro brawler done in the vein of the classic TMNT Stand Up Arcade game.
Travel with Miyamoto Usagi on an epic journey, battling over 50 enemy types and 13 boss monsters pulled right from the comics! Wield the legendary sword Grasscutter as you travel across feudal Japan in a tale to restore order to the land.
•13 Action Packed Levels
•Over 50 different enemy types & 13 Boss Monsters right from the comics!
•Epic Storyline, approved by Stan Sakai!
•Unlock over a dozen Combos and Special Attacks as you progress through the game!

for its original price, its not really worth it.
but when you find a good discount, go ahead.
its really fun to play, i love the vibes of 2010's web games that i used to play daily. its easy, too easy at times, yeah, but its nothing bad!
its good to just go through a whole game (for its really short) at one sitting, to relax and just pass time

Like they said, an uncomplicated retro brawler a la Double Dragon or TMNT.
Nothing fency like Mortal Kombat, less violent and good for younger audiences and like the wonderful comic series recommended to those who enjoy Sakai's art and story telling and who don't need enemies being stripped of their spines or needless other gore fests.
I got my fun out of it for that price.

I love this game.
I owned the very first game on the C64. It was one of my favourite games back then. Im glad to see it back again.
It stays close to the feel and atmosphere of the original and is graphically better. I love the additional combat moves.
I do wish it was longer, however.
If you liked the old version, pick it up, if not only for the nostalgia.

4:3 aspect ratio + inability to quit game + no spoken dialogue = Sub-par brawler for die-hard Usagi Yojimbo comic fans. Recommended because I am one of those. For the price it's not bad and you'll get your $5 worth. It reminds me of Fist of Jesus in terms of modern gameplay and quality of game.

Usagi Yojimbo: Way of the Ronin is a side-scrolling beat-'em-up along the lines of classic arcade games like Renegade. As with all such games, there are some light platforming elements (jumping over pits), but most of the gameplay is avoiding the attacks of a variety of enemies that swarm you, while simultaneously clobbering them with melee attacks.
The levels are framed by a story taken from/inspired by the Stan Sakai "Usagi Yojimbo" comic book series, in which Jei is tasked by the "gods" to destroy a particular mirror, the only thing that can stop these "gods" from escaping from their imprisonment. Once the game begins, the story is told via in-game cut scenes between each level.
This game was originally developed for cellphone touch screens, and then ported to this PC version. The controls using the keyboard are solid, though they can be re-mapped to other keys or you can use a video game controller if you like. But there are some artifacts that are instantly recognizable from mobile games: each level is awarded 1 - 3 stars (and a numeric tally of points) upon completion, with 3 stars being awarded only for a perfect score (killing all opponents but taking no damage). The levels end as soon as you've defeated the last enemy, which is annoying, because it means that you will usually not get all the items/coins from the level. It's single-player only and there aren't multiple save slots, so you can't easily play and compare saved games with friends or family on the same system.
Despite all those drawbacks, I've enjoyed what I've played of Way of the Ronin so far, and will likely continue to play it to the end.

Clearly this probably one of the most shortest games I ever played and is that a bad thing? Not really especially if I can do it in one sitting. If you're a comic book lover, you'll like Usagi Yojimbo, or if you're into something really quick..you'll like it all the more. It has NO achievements so truly, it's nothing more than a score attack game with a good story following. I'm hoping they do make a sequel with a bit more of a challenge since this game was good but could use a bit more of a challenge, combat wise at least. Considering how cheap this game, just try for yourself. You might like it..or not, but it worth something if you need a break from long games.

Not bad, but I would only recommend for big time fans of the comic. Everything is generic except for the comic book theme.
