At Dead Of Night
At Dead Of Night is part horror film, part horror game and part ghost hunt. It seamlessly blends live-action and graphics to create a unique immersive horror experience like no other. You play Maya, a student trapped in a remote hotel run by a psychopath called Jimmy Hall. Jimmy has tied up Maya’s friends and locked them in their rooms, with evil intentions. Maya has managed to escape, but Jimmy is on the prowl looking for her. However, to get him to release her friends, Maya must uncover Jimmy’s dark secret. Using an ancient ghost voice receiver she finds, Maya must communicate with the ghosts of Jimmy’s past, who materialise around the hotel and gradually reveal their story.

One of the best horror games Ive ever played. Its definitely the scariest, most tense of them. You never know where jimmy is, but you do know that hes coming for you. Im not sure whats scarier, the fact that hes a maniac with a cricket bat or his awful haircut.

I started this game back in June, because I had seen a video about it from the YouTuber AstralSpiff and thought the FMV look combined with the hotel setting was really cool.
What resulted was it becoming the scariest game I have ever played.
That assessment might sound kind of odd given that the main big scares in this are jumpscares, but At Dead of Night does it differently. For starters, the performances of the real-life actors are interwoven seamlessly with the graphics in the game, such that it's indistinguishable from magic. Secondly, Jimmy is constantly after you *the entire game*, and learns from your hiding spot habits; If you keep going to a spot or floor of the hotel to try to evade him, he will get there more and more quickly. It's that constant sense of dread in combination with everything looking so real that I ended up fearing Jimmy more than any other horror game antagonist, even if it looks like a silly B movie on the surface.
I'm a little desensitized to the scares now having speedran it a lot/beaten it on Extreme mode and knowing Jimmy's mechanics more thoroughly, as well as being a horror game fanatic, but I don't think any future horror games I play are gonna match the terror that this game gave me.
If you want a masterclass in point-and-click horror that will scare you silly, this is it.

At Dead of Night is honestly one of the scariest horror games I have played to date. I'm not usually one to like point and click games, and also get scared by them. But the games eerie environment mixed with real life actors adds such an amazing appeal to the game that will literally knock you're socks off. The game has a rich story that makes the game and the history of the hotel really sad, and kinda scary. This game is an honest 10/10 and I can't wait for the second installment!

This game is one of the best gaming experiences I have ever had. I don't scare easily, but this genuinely makes me jump. It's a masterpiece and the unpredictable algorithm and overall theme in this game is genius. Side note: it feels like being in The Shining.

all aspects of the game fit in a perfect puzzle, the jumpscares are perfect, the visuals looking like a body cam recording, the story. it was clear that the story was well thought out and the actors did a great job voicing their characters and expressing their emotions. 10/10 game

Amazing game! I absolutely dig the mix of real life actors and in-game graphics. The horror elements reach their max with this game. Probably one of the best, if not the best, horror game I have ever played!
