Legend of Grimrock 2
Legend of Grimrock 2 is a dungeon crawling role playing game with a modern execution but an oldschool heart. A group of four prisoners have shipwrecked on the secluded Isle of Nex. The island is filled with ancient crumbled ruins, mysterious shrines and a vast underground network of dungeons and mines. If the prisoners wish to make it out alive, they have to overcome the challenges devised by the ominous mastermind of the island. Powers of perception and logic are more important than sheer force is, since Legend of Grimrock 2 puts a heavy emphasis on exploration, survival and challenging puzzles. Discover powerful ancient artifacts from hidden secret chambers and buried treasures. Arm your champions, cast spells and craft enchanted potions and bombs to aid you in fighting the dreadful monsters in highly tactical real-time combat.

Thanks to the allowance of custom portraits I have been able to create the greatest Star Trek game I've ever played: Picard, Riker, Data, and Worf all trapped in a medieval fantasy holodeck adventure!

On my second playthrough after several years. If there ever was a perfect sequel, this is it. It is an improvement in every way. I'm disappointed that there aren't many other games that capture the same dungeon-crawling experience as this.

This is the golden standard in Eye of the Beholder-likes.
It's simply THE best real-time dungeon crawler there is, and so far has ever been.
Which is why I got very curious why such a respected and revered, not to mention over a decade old, game suddenly finds itself at "mixed" reviews...? The answer is apparently "English reviews: Very positive."
This game is simply a joy for everyone, young and old, and can absolutely handle a replay or two. It still looks great and can basically run on a toaster. Don't forget to check out the mod scene with custom scenarios and dungeons! Becaue you'll want more of GR2, once the credits roll... (I still do)

I started playing this game on release in 2014, finally finished the game today after ragequitting roughly 2/3 in.
Fantastic puzzles, great ambiance, fantastic art and absolutely unfair fights with ♥♥♥♥ coming out of the damn walls. As if the developers wanted to outperform Alien Isolation in that particular category.... 11/10 would recommend!
If there ever is a Legend of Grimrock 3, please don't bring the trickster back. Thank you.

I don't know why I'm only now playing this years after I bought it, but it was already a deliberate anachronism then. Consequently it still holds up just as well now.

Loving it! Reminds of the Might and Magic series as well as the Eye of the Beholder series. Big nostalgic hit here, in a good way.

A direct upgrade to the first game. The graphics hold up well, and there's a lot of build variety and replayability. Most of the puzzles are very fair and can be solved with some thought and experimentation, there were only a few I had to look up. Very recommended, especially for the price.
