What The Skywalker Saga could've been.
Ignore the recent negative reviews, despite me never having experienced any of the issues described in these reviews anyways; the developers have gone out of their way to fix the remaining crash issues yesterday, 8 years after release.
I've had a blast playing through this so far, trying to 100% this game actually feels doable and fun. Graphics look beautiful, cut-scenes are funny as always and the gameplay isn't an overwhelming mess that tries a lot and excels at nothing like the latest installment.
I still prefer the old hub world system of The Complete Saga and earlier, these weird in between pseudo-open world hubs in more recent LEGO games feel empty, overwhelming and unnecessary.
I 100% (pun intended) recommend buying this over the Skywalker Saga if you're a completionist.

It's a good game. The graphics are nice, and the gameplay is varied and quite fun. It has voice acting, which feels a bit uncanny in this game. My only gripe is that the side content is just awful; everything is an uninspired and repetitive mess.

Overall, I would recommend getting LEGO® STAR WARS™: The Force Awakens if you're interested in playing it. It's still an enjoyable game even in 2025 after nearly nine years since its original release date. I would definitely take advantage of when this game goes on sale and get the Deluxe Edition or the Galactic Edition bundle with LEGO® Star Wars™: The Skywalker Saga.
If you're someone that wants to get all of the game's achievements, you need the Season Pass plus The Phantom Limb Level Pack since a few achievements depend on the extra levels added from the DLCs (As of this review, The Phantom Limb Level Pack isn't included in the Season Pass/Deluxe Edition).
Going into the game with no expectations, the graphics of its time look nice, the story is okay but still fun. It includes bits of humor as you play and I would say it's great for all audiences. There's multiple levels, puzzles, and collectibles throughout the game as such for any LEGO Video Game. Plus a multitude of characters with different abilities you can choose from and play. Depending on your play style, you can expect between 20 - 50 hours of gameplay.
Somethings I would take note of... The game has clunky PC controls so I recommend playing this game with a controller. Also, depending on your hardware, the game may have some instability issues such as frame drops during heavy effect sequences or even randomly crash. I recommend checking if you meet the system requirements for this game plus experiment with the in-game settings for the best possible experience. Lastly, this may help but from my experience, limiting the frame rate of the game to just 60hz helped prevent frame drops and crashes.
That's all, have fun! :D - Mushmistle

Is it weird that this has aged better than the movie? Its a another fun Lego adaptation of a film.

I highly recommend this game. It's the perfect addition to the lego star wars collection, having the humor, gameplay and visuals that a good lego game should have. It's honestly a good retelling of the story, and I would say it tells the story from TFA much better than the movie itself.

So while I wouldn't say that this is the best Lego game, even the best Lego Star Wars game, this game is still pretty undeniably fun. The levels are good, the combat is better with some of the shooting galleries changing it up a little bit, etc. While the Complete Saga will always and forever be my favorite Lego Star Wars, I think that this one is a solid option if you do actually enjoy some aspects of the sequel trilogy. The characters, especially the DLC characters are also fantastic in this game. If you want a big roster, this is it :D

Welp, 32 hours later after my original review, I have gotten 100% on the game, after grinding for many days straight. And I would like to correct myself that you don't need a Linux OS to have good performance with the game, for whatever reason, this game can't handle modern hardware in any capacity, but can easily handle old hardware without a doubt (like my laptop that sits with an 8th gen i3 iGPU set up that I got the 100% on), no clue why.
I will say that the game is good, story is decent as well (I mean it's the Force Awakens movie, which I can't comment on since I've never watched the movie properly). The DLCs? Meh, The Phantom Limb should've been included in the season pass as it is not worth the 3 euros it goes for on its own. The other DLCs (included in the season pass) are definitely better, I mean they more so just add a different pov to movie events (i.e the attack on Maz's castle where in the First Order Siege DLC, you just get the Kylo Ren POV of him going after Rey). But that's all I have to say for the game.
If it was an option, then I'd mark my review as mixed since it's a 50/50 in my mind due to the issues I had to deal with and so on... but for now, I'll update it to positive, BUT I still recommend Skywalker Saga over this cause there's more story content and basically no requirement for DLCs (since they're more so just character packs and nothing else), and it just runs and works better without question.
P.S. I removed my original review as it would probably make the review confusing.
