I’ll be honest, I played the last 2D game was Sonic the Hedgehog, after playing Crysis I was never a 2D platform gamer. The genre never really pulled me in, and I always gravitated towards other types of games. But then I stumbled upon Ori and the Blind Forest, and let me tell you… this game changed everything.
From the moment I started playing, I was completely mesmerized. The visuals, the music, the atmosphere—it all blended together to create something truly magical. I came in as a skeptic, and I left as a huge fan.
A Visual and Artistic Masterpiece
I don’t think words can do justice to how stunning this game looks. Every frame feels like a living painting, with breathtaking environments that are rich in color and depth. The way light filters through the trees, the movement of Ori, and the sheer attention to detail in every level, it’s a feast for the eyes.
Even if you’ve never played a 2D platformer before, the art alone will keep you invested. Whether you’re exploring the lush greenery of the Sunken Glades or escaping a raging flood, every moment is visually unforgettable.
A Soundtrack That Touches the Soul
If you ever want to feel a game through music, this is the one. The Ori and the Blind Forest soundtrack is a masterpiece on its own—melancholic, uplifting, and perfectly timed with every moment of the game.
The orchestral pieces tug at your heartstrings, and the way the music swells during emotional moments is nothing short of perfection. I found myself just pausing at times, letting the music wash over me. It’s that powerful.
Gameplay: Challenging but Rewarding
For someone who never played platformers, I won’t lie, this game challenged me. It’s fluid, fast-paced, and at times, brutally difficult. But every challenge feels fair, and when you finally nail that perfect jump or make it past an intense sequence, the satisfaction is unreal.
The movement mechanics are smooth as butter, and Ori’s abilities evolve in a way that makes gameplay feel fresh throughout. The game teaches you without holding your hand, and that sense of discovery is something I deeply appreciated.
An Emotional Story That Stays With You
I didn’t expect to feel so much while playing this game, but here I am, still thinking about its story. Without using much dialogue, Ori and the Blind Forest tells a deeply emotional tale of love, loss, and perseverance. It’s simple yet incredibly powerful.
This is the kind of game that makes you reflect, not just on the story itself, but on themes of sacrifice, belonging, and the beauty of life. And when a game can do that? That’s something truly special.
Pros:
Absolutely gorgeous visuals – Every frame is artwork.
A breathtaking soundtrack – Emotional, immersive, and unforgettable.
Tight, fluid gameplay – Platforming feels smooth and rewarding.
A story that truly resonates – Deeply emotional without needing much dialogue.
Perfectly paced progression – Unlocking new abilities feels natural and exciting.
Cons:
Can be quite challenging – If you're not used to platformers, expect a learning curve.
Save system takes some getting used to – The manual save mechanic is unique but can catch you off guard.
You might cry – Not really a con, but this game will hit you in the feels.
Conclusion:
I went into Ori and the Blind Forest not expecting much, after all, 2D platformers weren’t my thing. But this game proved me completely wrong. It’s a work of art, a journey of emotions, and one of the most beautiful experiences I’ve had in gaming.
If you’re even remotely curious, play it. Even if you’re not a 2D platformer fan like I was, this game will win you over. Trust me, I came for the visuals, stayed for the music, and left with a new appreciation for an entire genre.

Ori huh? so this one is the original and first one, its a straight up masterpiece. I love the lil guy hes amazing. the movement will make you fall in love with the game, the fact you can get more mobility that allows you to get to places you haven't been to as one option and become much stronger as another sets this very fun balance and freedom choice. 10/10 game play it first and see what will of the wisps has to say if you liked it.

Ok... the game... oh gosh, my tears, I can't hold it.... Because THIS IS A MASTERPIECE. Here are the pros and cons (or not) for this game.
The pros:
+ Well-written and touching story about love, forgiveness and sacrifice.
+ Beautifully hand-drawing, from characters to every detail of the environments. (Too much clear water :)) ).
+ Ahhh, musics to my ears.... It made me cry.....
+ Responsive control. Nice.
+ The platforming section is really well-executed, tricky gameplay.
+ As the upgrade version of the original game, with more contents, more balance, more secrets,... more grinding for the ability poinits.
+ Now it has 4 difficulties, from Easy to One-life... I hate one-life mode :)).
+ A huge map with lots of exploration.
+ There are parts of the game when it requires you to escape from certain death. Well, It's time to ultilize your skills to get you through danger.
+ This game reminded me of the game named "Cat Mario", the game which makes you suffer from falling, dying, danger at every corners. RAGE!! :)).
+ The game now is more compatible than the original one.
+ The game is best example of Unity Engine Games that can run smoothly on low-end pc.
+ No FPS drops.
+ First playthrough with 340 deaths for finding EVERY SINGLE SECRET in hard mode, how bad could it be? :)). I bet that i will die even more if the game were bigger.
+ Can you make a speed run from beginning to the end without using ability points, no death, under 3 hours in one-life mode? How long you guys can endure it? :)).
A MUST-HAVE GAME for anyone who want solid (with some trolling and surprise moments :)) ) and challenging gameplay with pure story-telling. And I am still waiting for the sequel "Will of the Wisps". Oh boy, I cried even more when i watched the sequel trailer..... Amazing game to the end.....
_Epic Final Score: 10/10.

Well, the game itself is very good. I don't know that it is included with the definitive edition. Sadly, there are some crazy things like MISSABLE COLLECTIBLES on several places, which was crazy because I need to do the game in another save files. Just play the definitive edition, its less buggy and have a really great story coverage with extra stages.

Ori2 (Ori and the will of the wisps) was the first game I ever finished on Steam after graduating high school. After 6 years of grinding for China's college entrance exam without touching any video game. Ori delivered an unprecedented visual blow to my senses. Now, when I played many games, i have gone back to experience the first one in this series, I still have a deep love for it. I know that comparing the first game to the sequel one is so silly. so the pros and cons I’m about to lay out aren’t gonna be in relation to the second game.
The pros are clear. The game is totally beautiful. I don't like Parkour-focused game, but this one made it pretty accessible for a noob like me, and it was actually fun. For example, you can bounce off enemy bullets or their body to get more speed and more higher jump. And there are spots you can’t reach at first, but later on, you unlock new skills and come back for sweet loot.
One genius design, in my opinion, is the triple jump and underwater breathing. These are skills you get later in the game, but they enhance the platforming without making them feel mandatory, which is cool for both casual players and completionists like me.
And the cons for me as follow: Frist off, As a Chinese player, not having Chinese localization was a bit of bummer. I got the gist of some stuff, but my English isn’t exactly everyday conversational, so some sentences made me cannot understand. Then, the combat system feels a bit tacked on. There aren’t many fights, mostly just exploration, which is fine, but the skill tree gives combat the same weight as exploration and platforming, which feels a bit unnecessary.
All that said, it doesn’t mean I don’t recommend the game. I’m totally digs the art style and level design; it’s super addictive. Here’s to hoping for even more engaging and beautiful games in the future.
