Caution to anyone considering buying this game:
- This game has a bit learning curb, so you will have to do a bit of reading in the in game tutorial materials to master everything.
- The game relies heavily on the payer using stealth and exploring the map, so this is not a hack em slash em kinda game.
Game play:
A top down isometric game where you walk around, explore the map, use stealth, climb and jump a lot and discover the secrets the map holds.
The world is open so you can easily get lost and the maps is pretty huge.
The game has a main quest with loads of side quests, but it is easy to get lost in the side quests. So you will have to monitor your mini-map to highlight the quests you are doing and follow along.
This game does not have guard rails, meaning: running headlong to a cliffs edge doesn't mean you will stop because of the game invisible wall, but it means you fall and die because you didn't stop dummy lol.
You get objectives which you have to complete by exploring the map and reaching hard to reach places. This often requires figuring out how to get to the objective and involves climbing, jumping, sneaking, fighting etc.
You can pick locks (most annoying feature of game lol), or simply drill the lock but that makes noise and enemies get alerted and investigate.
You can hack computers, you can pick pockets, you can break combination locks and all these are mini games which last like a min or two at the most.
Game play also relies on special ability called "sense" which you can use to find hidden objects and objectives.
Quests rely on this ability quite a bit. At times you will feel like you are stuck, or ran into a bug, its usually because you haven't looked carefully enough.
Loot system / items:
You loot a LOT. in this game I mean a LOT LOT LOT as there are loads of materials which initially are confusing as heck.
But just a head-sup, most stuff you wont have to carry as these are plentiful things to loot in the game. So don't burden yourself! Just unlock the crafting table and alchemy table as soon as possible (quests) and use materials to upgrade those to the max. Once done you can easily calculate what you need or don't and loot accordingly. Otherwise you will get over burdened.
The game offers a limited number of similar items, there are no legendary, epic or such weapons. Just better versions of the same weapons. But items are not the main focus of this game, so it doesn't matter that much.
If you find a stash anywhere, just fill it with all the junk and its easily accessible for crafting when you get to a table.
Levelling up your character:
Level ups are not through grinding but rather through map exploration, discovery and finding schematics and upgrade materials.
These upgrades are sometimes marked on the map and often are not. So explore the map and the game lets you know when a hidden material is nearby.
Oh and in this game you will die a LOT, so remember the F6 quick save key, hit it often, but not too fast only hit F6 when you are in a safe spot. But save often!
Once you learn the basics of the game, it is a lot of fun
Battle system:
You can equip a ranged weapon as well as a melee weapons.
Apart from that there are various traps you can craft and lay out as well.
The game play requires a lot of stealth and careful climbing, sneaking, and well calculated attacks when needed.
You can straight up attack and kill enemies, but this is harder as attacks are generally weak and enemies are plentiful and swarm you.
It is recommended that you use stealth to attack or simply avoid conflict.
However battles can be fun and quick once you have better weapons / abilities.
You can also knock out your enemies but then they wake up after a while.
Your clothes also matter in different areas as wearing a guards uniform will get other guards suspicious and they will eventually attacks.
Visuals / Sounds:
Good overall, nothing to write home about but the graphics are decent and most of the dialogue is with voice.
If you find the game too dark just change the brightness in the settings it makes life 100% easier!
Should you buy?
If you like top down isometric games where you have to explore the map carefully and take your time using stealth and your real life noggin then you cant really go wrong with this title.
I found the game a bit frustrating at the start but I gave it a few hours to properly learn everything and now I am really loving it!
If in doubt: you can pick this game up as little as $6 on sale, so just keep an open eye!

Hidden jem of stealth action genre. Really fun pro-active gameplay, especcially in stealth. Action encounters are also feels good thanks to different tools even if winner of most fights is decided by who gets to chain stun the enemy first. Story, charactes, visual style, worldbuilding and voice-acting+music are very solid too.
The only frustrating thing for me was the navigation between the sectors on the world map. Even though this game is an open world, most quests are evenly distibuted between sectors which are often conneted by 1 max 2 small chokes. And the problem is, these chokes are not represented on the map vividly. Because of that, I occasionally found myself lost on simple roads from A to B. Moreover, "Seven" is still rather buggy, but these glitches are mostly minor so just save your game more often and they wont be a problem.
All in all, I had a lot of fun playing "Seven" mostly because of systematic game design which offers greater extent of player freedom than other stealth games.

SUMMARY: A fun indie stealth RPG that excels in giving you a unique world to explore with stealth-forward gameplay.
PROS:
+ The setting is masterfully set with a rich history to explore and engage with.
+ Graphics are tastefully done. While not amazing, the graphics are also nice enough that you get to enjoy the games visuals. I can play at 4K resolution 144 Hz refresh without a hitch.
+ Stealth-forward gameplay. The game focuses around a thief, so you get to really utilize those skills and go hard on it if you'd like. But don't worry, if you like to rush in with combat-first, you can do that, too.
+ Well voice-acted. The voice actors mostly do a good job at keeping you rolling through the story.
+ Depth of gameplay. I'm now 25 hours in and am pretty sure I'm only 60% of the way through. EDIT: I just beat the game with about 61 hours. Definitely a lot of content to go through. I like that the choices you made can help inform and sway the decisions at the game's end.
+ There are numerous paths you can choose for the ending.
CONS
- Looting containers can be a chore when useful items are also mixed in with crafting junk. But not everything is junk! Some items you legitimately need to craft upgrades, so look at the recipe for the item and make sure you save those items before dismantling or selling them. It's not a major downer, but an annoyance.
- Some stealth encounters are frustrating as you have to wait for an NPC to move, and sometimes that takes forever. Thankfully there's a reliable quick save.
- The AI can be a bit dumb. Let's say there's two guards, and I decide to stealth kill one of them. The other guard, upon discovering the body of his colleague, will simply loot the other guard and walk away back to minding his business. I'd rather he gets alerted and yells for help.
- The environment can *sometimes* be frustrating. For example, there's a quest location marker on your minimap, but you cannot find what you're looking for. It turns out, it's above you! The ability to know if something is above you is obfuscated a good deal of the time, so you have to jump around and know. Another example is when you're trying to fight and you get stuck between chairs while the enemy attacks you. It's not a huge issue, but it does cause annoyance.
- Some side quests are time sinks. Without giving away anything, there's a quest requiring you to bring numerous junk items to fulfill a need. If you collect them all at once, you wont be able to carry it due to the weight of the items. If you bring the pieces little by little, there's no indicator of how many of each item you have remaining; it just lists the total needed. This is beyond frustrating and made me say "no thanks" to that quest. The reward wasn't even worth bothering.
Overall it's a solid game and I'm having fun with it.

Nice stealth RPG. Quests and lore are interesting. Exploration is amazing, it's the best part of the game. The map is big and pretty much open from the start of the game. Gameplay is not too complicated, both combat and stealth are very easy, the consequences for being seen is basically non existent. The traversal is a bit janky, you can die from a wrong jump easy, also can be that you wanted the character to grab a ledge, but you can't see exactly if he will be able to because of the perspective. Better quicksave very often.

Ooh lots to talk about here. To be blunt, this game is fantastic. It's itched a Deus Ex-sized patch on my heart with its incredible verticality - which got me planning careful trajectories and paths across the landscape - it's unique powers - including the ever-present flash and the very interesting chronosphere - really add the Im-Sim feel in spades, and the surprisingly in-depth systems (crafting, upgrading, upskilling, "perks", stealth, combat, fast-travel, etc.) made it feel cohesive, like the world actually existed in real time.
The voice acting helps this along too - everyone is absolutely on-point. The voices are emotive, funny, not hammy - but neither are they grating. The actors struck a terrific balance, though some had very strong accents at times.
This is absolutely a must-play if you like exploiting movement mechanics and special abilities to stealth your way through entire maps, a-la Deus Ex. There are only a few points I could suggest to the developer to be cognizant of in their next project, and for you, likely a prospective buyer/player, to be aware of.
First, there are a few bossfights which are utterly broken unless you figure out precisely how to play them. Despite 98% of the game being stellar exploration and stealth/ combat gameplay, this 2% of mandatory bossfights really annoyed me.
Second, the game is played in an isometric view. This is perfectly fine, and even works fantastically at showing off the impressive setpieces that the developers have constructed, but at times, the verticality of the game poses a problem. The game auto-hides anything that obscures your view of Teriel, the MC, and so sometimes it is difficult to know that there is a higher level/even a roof above the character's head, and as a result I've been trying (and failing) multiple times to get up onto a ledge only to find that a ceiling is blocking my movement.
Other than that - EXCELLENT voice-acting, a reasonable story, very good dialogue, a beautiful, beautiful world with loads of very intelligently designed systems acting all at once to give the impression of realism, and a brilliant soundtrack to wrap it all up into a great little package. I got 30 hours out of this, and I BARELY scratched the surface of all the side quests that are available. My map is still littered with markers for potential quests, and I look forward to a future playthrough where I experience them, too.

I expected nothing and it delivered everything.
The game is much more elaborate than I imagined for this price. It really deserves a sequel. Just play it.

Just beat this game! I was about to purchase The Thaumaturge, but then realized that the developer, Fool's Theory, had made one other RPG, Seven: The Days Long Gone: Enhanced Edition. I literally had never heard of this RPG, but decided to give it a shot before playing The Thaumaturge and I was impressed! It's a stealth-based isometric RPG with a big focus on crafting that has really good voice acting and an interesting story. I feel like this game went totally under the radar, but it is very good.
