Game has cute art and funny writing. A lot of older reviews were complaining about the rhythm being too unforgiving, but it's been fixed at some point so the game feels pretty good to play

Lovebirb - 8.5/10
Lovebirb is a cute game that focuses on a brutally single birb, who’s encouraged to begin dating again. You use a ‘Tinder’ like setup called ‘Bumbird’, swiping left and right on cute birbs in your area! This game for me was possibly the funniest so far, seeing the wide range of representations and 7 wacky dates, and the focus on rhythm - which is a favourite genre of mine.
The main game mechanic of following rhythms to respond correctly to your date was really interesting! Birds in general perform ‘dances’ to attract mates, so it was a hilarious and effective idea in my opinion! The tunes were catchy, and the rhythms not too challenging - only becoming harder the more dates you went on.
Lovebirb's UI is clean, easy to access, and very aesthetic! I loved the sound effects and dialogue for each character, as it was very distinctive - and even the music matches the mood! It isn't overly confusing, which is great for someone like me who is looking for a casual game.
I adored the different representations of relationships, and the wildly different characters. Lovebirb presents comedic yet serious types of love, and I ended up choosing Scott. I was laughing the whole time during this game! The different dates are funny, original, and there is a partner for every type of person and their preferences. I played through each route, and there wasn't a single one I hated!
My only reason as to why this didn't get a 10/10, was that after I completed a few routes, the gameplay became a bit repetitive. Also, I found that if you wanted to reach another ‘commit’ ending, you would have to replay the game effectively. As someone who strives to see a game’s completion, I found this to be tiring. However, it also opens the door to my favourite thing…
Achievements!
This game would do wonderfully with some achievements, especially with all its different routes - And not to forget the amount of pop culture references in there! It made me giggle seeing how many there were, screenshotting and sending to my friends. I think having achievements for purposely choosing these reference responses, and for the different routes, would be a great idea!
Wishing you all the best!

It's a fun little game. The key detection wasn't great that I switched to casual (easy) half-way through; it might be a Wine/Proton issue instead of the game itself.

short, adorable rhythm-based dating game that’s simple but full of charm. You play as a little bird trying to impress potential partners through rhythm mini-games, and it’s honestly both cute and funny. The art style is colorful and full of personality, while the music is catchy enough to make the gameplay feel lively and fun.
It’s clearly a lighthearted project that doesn’t take itself too seriously, and that’s part of its appeal. The writing is silly in the best way, and the characters are surprisingly expressive for such a short experience.
On the downside, the gameplay can get repetitive after a while, and the rhythm mechanics are quite basic. It’s also very short, so don’t expect a long or deep story. But as a fun, wholesome break with great humor and style, Lovebirb does exactly what it sets out to do.

A comedic and heartfelt rhythm game that draws you in with whacky characters and makes you stay through the wonderful depth on display.
With soft yet vibrant colours the art is sleek and cozy. Additionally it incorporates little details that show a lot of character be that in the design of the birds or the backgrounds.
Some of the tunes will likely sound familiar, though all of them have been mixed with a beat that is really catchy and makes you nod along. This is also a very strong point in relation to the rhythm-based gameplay.
As for said gameplay it is not simply a rhythm game, you also have to have a good reaction time when it comes to reading as you need to pick the right answers in a short but fair timespan. There are also a few varied mini-games which are created with these main building blocks further testing you decision making, reaction time and rhythm.
For the first date with each bird they start of very whacky and fully lean into comedy. However while they do still carry their peculiar traits into the following dates, they also start to open up and show more facets of themselves, which is very endearing and actually has you really connect with them. By that point I already saw this as a great game with tons of representation on top of it, but then they came out of the woodwork with Russo being ace?! Naturally I had to pick them at the end and that ending did not disappoint! It was so sweet, 10/10 felt incredibly seen.
In conclusion being fun with good gameplay and witty writing as well as being incredibly sweet down the line this is a definitive must-play to me. Absolutely a hidden gem, perfect for sweetening an afternoon or evening and free no less!

It's so cute and so fun. I've played games worse games that cost money, this is free. I need that woodpecker in my life. The music is wonderful, the rhythm game part works well

Absolutely adorable. I actually connected with Russo, and that ending is just so darn cute. I also very much appreciate the representation here.
