Heart&Slash is a 3D brawler roguelike robot love story set in a world where machines are all that remains from human civilization. You play as Heart, a sentient robot fighting to escape the grip of the evil and all seeing machine QuAsSy (Quality Assurance Systems). But make no mistake, Heart&Slash is no walk in the park. Every death is permanent and means a new randomly generated level for you to start over with a different set of weapons and items you can use, new enemies to fight and secrets to explore. Heart&Slash offers players something new and challenging because it is not about mastering one system, rather adapting to what is provided and making the most of it.

this game unexpectedly stole a piece of my heart. at first it will be cute and fun, but frustrating and hard. you'll go through trial and error time and time again, dying and looking to progress further your next run. it can be unforgiving (and heartbreaking) like other dungeon crawlers/roguetypes but makes you want to keep trying, because it feels so good to get good. i felt true joy beating each of the bosses for the first time after struggling and failing again and again. and even more each time i progressed through the story!!! the writing between the two characters, the relationship they have and the story within the game is so cute and perfect. there's so many little things in this game that give it so much charm and a big impression each time i play. underrated masterpiece. it is love when it tries the way it does

Heart&Slash is a fun and difficult Roguelike Hack 'n' Slash with lots of personality and charm.
The graphics have a very distinct and captivating style, the enemies are meticulously crafted, and the environments - though a bit repetitive - are varied enough to not bore you.
The combat is exciting as a hack 'n' slash should be, but due to the difficulty and roguelike elements, it doesn't become boring because you need to maintain your focus.
Perhaps I just suck, but my only gripe are the bosses. While absolutely kickass, I don't see how it's possible to beat them but by relying on cheap tricks over strategy & tactics. I find their attacks incredibly difficult to dodge while trying to get a hit in, and instead find myself heavily relying on ground slams or aerial attacks or a special weapon that guarantees knock-outs. A great example is when you fight Slash, which I perceive as your first boss battle. His attacks are so incredibly swift and in quick succession that you have no room to get a regular hit in, except when utilizing the aforementioned cheap tricks. I may look up if I'm doing something wrong, but it's worth noting at the very least.
Overall, I think this game is a fantastic hidden gem, and I'm confused how it hasn't gotten more attention, considering it dates back all the way to 2016. If you want some fun with personality & charm, pick up Heart&Slash.

Great game with great combat, story, art style, music, and comedy. THE MOST underrated game of all time! Anyone who comes across this game should buy it, it's well worth the money.

Making this after 100%ing the game. If you're looking to play this casually, only every once in awhile, this game is great. The soundtrack is bumping, the combat is decent, and the levels are somewhat interesting. The camera is a little annoying because it intentionally gets stuck in the air when you jump or attack. If you play it for any longer than an hour or two, you will see just how buggy it is. There's nothing gamebreaking, most of them are just annoying. For example, if you land on an edge, you'll fall infinitely. If you can ignore the bugs, you'll like this game.

Honestly, this game is meh. You'll either enjoy it or you won't. The game is unique and weird, just not for me. Gonna make this review a recommend because I don't want to fuck up anything for the devs.

I'm not going to lie, some of the controls can be kinda wonky, but I've only played this game for a short time and can already tell its going to be a wild ride, I'm looking forward to unlocking everything and resetting to do it again.

Had a lot of fun.
It haunts me knowing that I have to wait on a certain month of the year to unlock a character. Would've went for 100% otherwise.
