A very rewarding yet unforgiving game, set in a dark fantasy world. Dark Souls III is or not one of the best Action RPGs out there. Having a lore-rich interconnected semi-open world, the game shows how it should be at its best. Fun boss fights, good soundtrack, beautiful environment, fun pvp, high replay value, and satisfaction from your own success are one of the many elements that this game has.

> launch the game. . .
> fight a boss and get slammed for over 50 times then rage quit.
> launch the game the other day. . .
> farm some souls and level up then get ready for the fight. . .
> get slammed for other 50 times.

firekeeper wasn't barefoot, so that's a bit disappointing but overall great game.

As someone who’s only played Dark Souls 3 when it comes to the three Dark Souls games, with absolutely no bias whatsoever Dark Souls 3 is the best in my infinite wisdom. You’ll face death, enough death that’ll leave you broken. To avoid death entirely, don't buy the game. You're welcome.

The First Flame quickly fades.
Darkness will shortly settle.
But one day, tiny flames will dance across the darkness.
Like embers, linked by lords past.
Ashen one, hearest thou my voice, still?

When I played this game back in 2018 for the first time, it genuinely helped me through a depressive episode. It's quickly become one of my favorite games of all time and to this day I adore this game.
Even today this game has a way of making me feel good about myself. Whenever I beat a boss that I previously struggled with, are capable to overcome a new challenge I've set myself, it makes me feel like I can totally accomplish things and not many games give me that feeling anymore.
To me, this is the best Souls game there is.

My personal favorite Souls game, and where I got started, though if you're unfamiliar with the lore it can be a little confusing getting started, but that's fine. You know why? Because Souls games are all about having a steep learning curve. The insane difficulty is meant to challenge you. There is absolutely no hand-holding, no quest markers, nothing. You get a tutorial on how to do basic things then you get thrown into the frying pan. This game is not easy, Dark Souls became its own genre for a reason. You WILL die, hundreds of times. You will want to quit. You will be frustrated with the mechanics, and the combat, and you will feel like quitting. But you will feel the need to come back, to complete it, to finally beat that ONE annoying boss. And after 50, 100, or even 1000 failed attempts you will finally beat it, and the feeling of accomplishment will be like nothing you've ever experienced. Because you earned it, you took your time, you trained, you practiced your moves, and in the end you won. You can respawn an infinite number of times, the only way you can lose is if you give up.
And that's the poetic beauty of Dark Souls. You decide when you lose. You decide how hard you're going to make it for yourself. Not with a regular difficulty slider, but through hard work, dedication, and summoning a bunch of Sunbros who are better fighters than you are to beat up the big mean hard bosses for you.

Nameless King bent me over and did unspeakable things to me when this first came out.
That was until Consort Radahn showed me the power of an unemployed alcoholic father when I bring him a family drawing.
