Warriors Orochi 4 is the latest entry in Omega Force’s long-running Musou spin-off series — a chaotic mashup of Dynasty Warriors, Samurai Warriors, and now, mythology. This game throws over 170 playable characters into a reality-bending battlefield full of gods, generals, and gratuitous special effects.
If you’ve ever wanted to see Lu Bu and Zeus fight side-by-side while clearing 1,000 enemies in a single mission, Warriors Orochi 4 makes that dream a reality.
The core gameplay remains classic Musou:
-Pick your squad of 3 characters
-Enter massive battlefields
-Slaughter thousands of enemies with over-the-top combos and screen-shattering specials
What makes Orochi 4 stand out is its Magic System, a new mechanic that lets every character use godlike spells. You can summon lightning storms, magic dragons, or giant spears that skewer hundreds at once. It adds flair — and some much-needed variety — to the usual hack-and-slash formula.
Character switching on the fly adds strategy, letting you chain combos or adjust tactics based on enemy types and objectives. It’s fast, it’s frantic, and yes — it’s fun.
The narrative is as over-the-top as you'd expect. Greek gods like Zeus and Athena get pulled into the already convoluted Warriors universe, creating a new divine conflict involving realms, chaos orbs, and shattered realities.
It’s not exactly Shakespeare, but it’s serviceable, especially for fans of crossovers. Expect lots of campy dialogue, dramatic speeches, and surprising moments of depth between fan-favorite characters.
Still, unless you’re deeply invested in the lore, the plot mostly acts as a vehicle for the next absurdly large battlefield.
With over 170 characters, there's no shortage of options. Each has unique movesets, but the truth is: many feel mechanically similar, especially after several hours. Still, collecting, leveling, and equipping characters with weapons and skill trees adds an RPG-lite flavor to the grind.
Multiplayer co-op (online and local split-screen) makes the experience even better — because everything is more fun when you're wrecking armies with a friend.
The Pros:
-Huge roster with tons of fan favorites
-Magical abilities spice up familiar gameplay
-Epic scale and spectacle
-Decent replay value through character progression and unlockables
-Co-op is a blast
The Cons:
-Repetitive mission design — most objectives are "defeat this" or "go there"
-Characters start blending together due to move set repetition
-The graphics are passable but outdated, especially on PS4/PC
-Weak AI and no real challenge unless you crank up the difficulty
-Story is overloaded with characters, making it hard to follow or care deeply
Warriors Orochi 4 delivers exactly what it promises — bombastic, mindless fun with mythological flair and an absurdly huge cast. It doesn’t reinvent the wheel, and it’s not trying to. But for Musou fans, it’s a satisfying, content-rich outing that celebrates everything wild and wonderful about the franchise.
If you’re a newcomer, it can be overwhelming and repetitive. But if you love clearing battlefields with divine fury and anime physics, this is your chaotic playground.
A button-mashing power fantasy for fans of spectacle and scale — just don’t expect much nuance beneath the chaos.

Back when I was in school I couldn't buy this game, but thank God now I can play this game. This is my favorite game when I was in school

Very fun Warriors game! If you enjoy hack and slash games, this is for you, though admittedly it's not nearly as good as its predecessor.

⚠️ RUMOR CHECKING:
* Warriors Orochi 3 is better ➜ It is less substance than previous entries. Especially gamer already played in the pre-squel. It is ok for new comer to start in this series.
* Real content hide in DLC, grab Season Pass instead ➜ Agree, especially comparing to Warriors Orochi 3. And the price is way more expensive & discount never go lower than 50%
* It is good because way more accessible to reveal game content ➜ Agree, it is less grinding to unlock new characters
* It is still easy to play in highest difficulty ➜ Agree, because it is not a challenging game

4 is not as bad as everyone says, the story isn't as good as 3 but personally i think the gameplay is better and smoother plus costumes are from SW4 and DW8 and i think that's way better than 3's which are SW3 and DW7. You'll hear people say that gauntlet mode in 3 is superior but.....i disagree immensely both aren't good they are not the fun kind of grind in my opinion

dynasty/samurai warriors isekai with greek, norse, japanese and chinese mythology. pretty neat xy combination simulator. the reimagined characters from history are fun to figure out before the names are said.

I have 2 copies of this game because I really like the gameplay. The story, however, is really bad. The achievements are good, but the last 3 I don't have are really grindy, so I skipped it. It's 7.5/10 for me.
