Yes, I've played 246 hours. Yeah, that's a lot of time for a work-every-day adult. Yups, it's been worth it every single second. The variety of gameplay and characters is HUGE, there's a LOT of game to be played. Plots are cheesy, fun and goody-be-good KOEI style, and that's great when you are tired of the "I-AM-THE-DARKNESS" kind of mood. Would I recommend? HELL YEAH! But there's not a real need to go into details. Just get it full price if you can, on sale if you can't, but get it, play, have fun. You're guaranteed to find a character that suits your style, and with varying levels of difficulty - more to be unlocked later - you'll always have a fight in your hands. Tremendous game.

If you're looking for a Dynasty Warriors fix in 2024, this is the one to buy when on sale.
It's not difficult. It's got questionable balance. But it's got more characters than you can ever think to play.
As a general recommendation, don't seek out the most powerful characters - find one you like and stick to it. Once the game is beaten you can find the OP ones and use them in infinity mode.

TL;Dr: Looks better/plays better than Wo3, but with some BIG downsides!
Compared to WO3:
+The Graphics look better
+The combat's MUCH Faster!
+You can actually mount your horse reliably
+New mythologies added!
+Upgrading/Fusing weapon is GREATLY streamlined, (getting weapon attributes is far less grindy)
+There's an actual 'Retry' button? (no more getting kicked to the main menu on death.)
+New universal Magic items that can be swapped around for even more explosive damage
+Simplified character types from 4 to 3 (Tech, Power Speed) so you can always have a team that covers the bases
+You can lock on to stronger foes?!?! (even displays an easy to read health bar on top of screen)
+Tons more smaller combat changes
But the combat in this game is such a HUGE upgrade in my eyes, I actually dropped wo3, and played the ENTIRETY of wo4 and it's ‘ultimate’ expansion, (every main+side mission) before going back to finish Wo3.
But as much as I prefer this games combat, it;s a HUGE step down in other areas.
-Very little map varity (always been a problem with the series, but more noticeable here)
-Main story is very short, with the ultimate edition, it feels like half a game
-Pretty much Zero unlockable costumes (they’re all paid dlc)
-Very little variety in objective types,
-Progression is much more linear, with side-missions feeling much less rewarding.
-Even on Padimonium difficulty it feels MUCH easier
-Most of the DLC is pointless, and costumes are split across dozens of packs.
So as much fun as I had playing it, it was wilding going back to Wo3, and operating a laser turret to take down a hydra, and I realized just how much toned down this new entry was.
So my suggestion? If you don’t have either, and only want one game, Just go with WO3, it’s a much better package overall, and the combat is extremely fun!
If afterwards, you want more Warriors Orochi Goodness, Buy this onsale, (be sure to get the ‘ultimate edition’)

Bought this game on a whim during Winter Sales, was pleasantly surprised by the polished storyline and smooth gameplay. Easy recommendation to anyone who is just looking for a fun time without having to use much brain power. The hack-and-slash nature could however be repetitive for some.
If you are someone who hates repetitive patterns, might be advised against getting this game.

this is one of the best games i've played, absolutely love the diversity and depth of... well all the characters.
to have broken the walls between so many mythical realms and put them in one realm is already fantastic, especially because they're all depicted so very well. truly an epic game.

By far this is the best game I've ever played other than The Witcher 3. They nailed every aspect such as gameplay, voice acting (especially Athena) and other elements. For any of you who missed the 1st and 2nd Warriors Orochi and wants to have some nostalgia, buying this might be the best decision even for an unreasonable price (best to wait on discount).

This game is great in many ways but falls a little short from giving us that true musou Experience.
They pretty much made a game for Character action andys like myself but in the process alienated the rest of the community. The Endgame they wanted is lacking sadly but i always say this, the Real endgame is the combos.
