Forget the girls, I'm chasing that bag. Opened 4 hotels so far. Needs more gameplay.

THE PROS
- A full fledged game. Too many adult games go down the same AVN route, it's always refreshing when a game actually has some core mechanics. This one puts you as a manager of love hotels, and the mini-games can be pretty fun. There's currency to buy items, which you then give to the girls as gifts to increase your relationship, and the open world nature of the game makes it very easy to discover everything in any order, at your pace.
- Pretty solid scenes. I anticipated the art style to be a bit too simplistic, and it kind of is, but the animations are some of the best I've seen. Lots of AVNs, the visuals are somewhat realistic, but the animations are always too stiff. Here they feel very natural, which more than makes up for the drawn style, which to be honest, still looks great. Same goes for voice acting and sound effects, all on point.
THE CONS
- The story. There isn't much of one. The premise is simple; you take over you parent's hotel, and turn it around by making it a love hotel. None of the women are directly involved in this story. You could simply turn the hotel into a successful business, hardly do any dating, and you'll still reach the end. There's little intrigue, definitely no twists.
- The women's storylines. Very quickly you'll learn that all of the women have the same pattern; they're all struggling with a particular problem; some are shy, some have career problems, some have conflicts with family, whatever. As the MC, all you really do is tag along, having hardly any say on where the story goes. And by merely spending time with them, eventually they all recognize you were there to support them, so they all fall in love with you, the end. By the 4th women, I started skipping through dialogues as I wasn't invested in them, and I could still make out the key plot points.
Ultimately this all feels like the ultimate nice guy fantasy, where the mere fact of being there, and being nice, is all it takes to get the girls, completely irrespective of the women's personalities. If some of them are more out going and jolly, for some reason they'll pick you, the same way the women who are more quiet and reserved will. Their hobbies don't matter, nor do their character.
- The scenes. I did say they were great, and they are, so it's more of a nit pick, but I find the camera angles on some of the scenes to be ridiculously too tight. I'm talking, for example, of foreplay scenes where the camera is so up close, all you see is the lips. Everytime it happened, I was furstrated.
CONCLUSION
I think most of my criticisms are by now based off the fact that I've played more than my fair share of adult games, and I'm allowing myself to be picky. But the truth is, this game is still pretty solid, so long as you're not looking for a rich story.

Looking at some negative reviews, a lot of it is nitpicky. The game is polished and presented well. The entire game is like that, not just the important stuff, the developers have done a great job. It's not difficult by any means, which I think is good for this genre of game. It respects your time. A lot of good scenes, simple concepts, and good art. I've just finished the main story line, just before finishing the game. I have the core mechanics pretty much finished, but a ton of scenes to watch and events to begin. The scenes and events aren't drawn out, which I enjoy and thank the developers for. There's also no pressure to do certain things at certain times. (There is one story point I wish I had prepared for but is unimportant in the grand scheme of things).

This is the best hentai game EVER! Aghh!!! It makes me angry that I'll never play another game like this lol. It's worth the price.
I am constantly torn between whether to be horny or have fun with the game dynamics. The art is amazing and the girls are all so different, with great stories, and it's really easy to like every one of them. The part time jobs are fun, managing the hotel is fun (and sometimes challenging), collecting the gifts is fun.
But I bought this game cuz I didn't want a "story" as much as some good old p0rn. And once you've unlocked some h scenes with a girl, you can just invite a girl to the love hotel if you're in the mood for... not playing the story, teehee. (The sex styles are all different too. Some of the women like certain things and others like another, and they all have different experience levels...ugh it's so good)
The art...! Is so good too. The women all look different. Their faces and bodies are all different and all gorgeous. Some have a bush and some don't, some are thick with huge titties (satomi my love), some are thin and lithe, some strong... like the first image of Sara with her soccer legs..........heheehhehe. Oh, and the boobs behave like boobs!! They move like boobs do! No more being too lazy to make titties bounce and jiggle! Nothing is a worse turnoff in an h game than tits made of rock. Also, the playable character's ♥♥♥♥ is... nice. 10/10.
The voice acting is hot too.
Also, if anyone else has this issue with other games:
this game walks a line that I can never fcking find in h games... the line between "made for men" and "made for women." Most sex games either a) leave me (a woman) with a yucky feeling, where there's little misogynistic things sprinkled about and the women aren't characters really OR b) they are made to subvert all that so dramatically that everything is vanilla, the man is a dolt, and every single line is about consent and such. This game on the other hand... the playable character's language about sex is realistic in that he talks differently depending on who he's talking to! Like with Reika, who is experienced and kinda nasty, he doesn't bother with formalities and is flirty and forward. With Toshiko, who is inexperienced and curious, he's very gentle and reassuring. It's just realistic in that sense... (other than the fact that you can date 8 women at one time, teehee). No complaints about the h scenes at all!!!
There's also a fair amount of content. If this game looks interesting, buy it, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Let's be honest. The sex related and story stuff is great, but the hotel managing gameplay is what kept me going. I got hooked! 100% everything.
Update: Nominated as GOTY.

Please ignore my time in the game as I played a lot of this offline so my time is not accurate.

I won't lie, the adult management/VN genre is something that to me personally is a minefield. There's some good out there, but there's also a LOT of "slop" for lack of a better term or ones that just feel more hastily put together. Quickie: A Love Hotel Story is NOT one of those, it's good.
Taking on inspiration from the Persona series in terms of presentation and gameplay, you play as a university student who inherits his family's struggling hotel and, in a stroke of genius, converts it into a love hotel. Once you get rolling, you then focus on building relationships with 8 different women (the VN side of things) while simultaneously running the hotel (management). It's just enough of a good time on each side that it can keep you interested if you're maybe more of a VN or management style game player. It doesn't feel like its making you dip too much into one of the two sides which I very much enjoy.
As for the NSFW side, you won't be disappointed here. The animations here use this kind of 2D/3D approach that honestly works really well and offers a bit of uniqueness in my opinion versus some other more static ones you may get from this specific genres of game. It's something to be applauded honestly.
This game is really rated this high for a reason. It's a great example of an adult game that blends a genre that can very much feel a bit of a slog or oversaturated and does something with it.
