The Fabled Woods
PLEASE NOTE BEFORE ENTERING THE WOODS!
Hey everyone, I wanted to clear up some confusion. The Fabled Woods is a narrative short story. I designed the game to be comfortably enjoyed in one session without interruptions. Therefore, the average player more than likely won’t take longer than 90 minutes to finish it. If that is too short of a game for you, I would recommend not purchasing The Fabled Woods. No hard feelings <3 Yours, Joe (CyberPunch Studios)
About the Game
A Visitor? Ahem. Hello there! Oh… It’s you. What a surprise. Not a lot of other folks come and visit these parts.
You see, I came here to be with someone I let down long ago. Someone I thought I might find amongst these trees. That someone was my son. That’s enough about me, we’re here for you. These woods hold the answers to your questions, everything will be explained soon, and this time, please pay attention.
Walk the path less travelled, and see what secrets hide among the trees…
Welcome to The Fabled Woods, a dark and mysterious narrative short story. Despite the picturesque beauty, ugly and terrible secrets lurk among the shifting boughs, darkness that no amount of dappled sunlight can erase.
Take the first step, and experience an unforgettable journey.
- Three intertwining narratives to be uncovered, piece by piece, as you hunt for clues as to what happened
- Explore at your own pace in an experience built from the ground up for fans of the puzzle free, death free storytelling in games such as Gone Home and Firewatch
- Fully voiced, hear the characters as they impart their tales of strange going ons and mystery to you, the player, all set in a living world built in Unreal Engine technology

This is a short game, so like others have pointed out, you'll want to wait and get it on sale. But oh man, what an experience! The graphics are gorgeous. The music and sound design are fantastic. There was so much care put into little details, like articles ripped from newspapers or generic whisky labels. The message about forgiveness and letting go is a little weirdly delivered but hey, I'm here for it. This game is a feast for the eyes and ears, and the coziest short horror game I've ever played.

It feels a bit like the tail wagged the dog on this one. I cannot explain precisely why, but I get the feeling that the design of this game started with the assets that they had available and that they worked backwards to craft a narrative story to support the objects that they had at their disposal. That feeling persisted throughout, as the visuals were decent and yet everything else felt a bit half-baked.
This is not the most engaging or interesting walking sim / narrative adventure in the world, but there are far worse out there. It is quite short, which is not a bad thing, as it is just about as long as necessary for the surprisingly dark little story that they decided to tell. Is that story worth your time? That answer will probably differ from person to person.
I neither loved nor hated my time with this game. I was not impressed but I was not necessarily bored, either. It is visually interesting in parts. If you are a real nut for walking sims / narrative adventures and you have the chance to pick this up for around a buck, it is not such a bad way to spend 45 minutes to an hour.

What a great game. I just purchased it last night, and played tonight and enjoyed it from strat to finish. No annoying bugs or glitches, no stress, just a nice walk through the forest with voiceovers.
The sounds were so realistic I really thought I was in a forest. The visuals were relaly great too. The game was very short, I walked msot of it and ran a bit so took me 1h 20 to finish.
The voice acting was great. What impressed me was the visuals of the forest and sounds. I thnik I read somewhere it was dark in some areas, which I do agree like when I was in th cabin, I could hardly see some things.
Some of the books didnt have a "SPACE TO READ" so you couldnt read it, and had to angle the book, and still couldnt read it, I only made out some text. I did notice one minor glitch but it didnt bother me, Sara was talking, I was wlaking along the path, and one or her lines got cut out and instant moved onto the next line, but when the guy was speaking that didn't happen.
If you haven't played this walking simulator go play it. Its pretty impressive and won't takel long. It took me around 1h 20 to finish. There are 2 endings but I only did one :)
8/10 game - GO PLAY IT.
The game is a bit exepensive so only get it on special. I got it for $1.15 on bargain discount.

Had issues with the game twice when it came to the Doors. Went through one and it missed the load area and I clipped through.
Another time I was standing too close to a door when it opened and I got stuck behind it.
But I love the mystery and scenery in the game. I had trouble following the story at first, but when it sank in the game became even more satisfaying.

This game was clearly made to take advantage of the Epic Mega Grant, not to deliver a whole game.
I paid $0.99 for the game, and was able to 'beat' the entire thing in 56 minutes (9/12 achievements- I missed 3 but could go back after reviewing steam community guide).
Was the game worth it? Um... barely. I guess.
Neat concept. It feels like a pitch deck, not a whole game. If they worked on a full version they could really have something here.

Beautiful walking simulator.
A bit weird story.
Short
Normal price is overpriced, but if you get this with good discount (-90%) then it's well worth.
Easyish Achievements, 100% / ~1h. (+couple hours idling for cards)

I was able to play this with an x box controller which was nice. I did have to change the settings to be able to look around which was frustrating. I thought the game was bugged right from the start. After I figured out what to do, I was able to enjoy the game. Yes it is short, but I knew this going in. I got on sale 90% off, which would have been the only way I would have bought it. I did like the graphics, could have been a bit more in depth or puzzle oriented. 6/10
