StellaGale: The Trials Of Faith
Once in a lifetime, an opportunity appears that nobody can turn away from. For the warriors across the lands, this came in the form of an offer from The Prince; let us have a massive gladiatorial battle, and the winner may ask for anything they wish. And they will get it. Brigands, thieves, generals, swordsman, rogues, and soldiers all heard the call and headed to the arena. Riches and fame awaited them.
For one young woman and her brother, fame and riches did not matter. Years before, Stella and her brother Gale were abandoned suddenly as their parents vanished. Growing up on the streets and lost, Stella grew skilled in a fight and her brother handy with a forge. They decided Stella had to enter with a most unusual wish – to have their parents returned to them. If The Prince is even capable of such a thing.
Multi-faceted characters with heart, depth, and drives you’ll have to play to discover.
The storyline will take us to incredible highs and tearful lows, with gameplay anyone can jump into and learn.
Multiple types of weapons with multiple types of add-ons means an incredible number of options to take out the equally diverse warriors trying to get their own wish brought to life!
Carefully choose where Gale spends his effort – these weapons are the only ones Stella will have to battle in the Arena each round.
As if the greatest warriors in the kingdom weren’t enough, the Arena is filled with traps and dangers just waiting for Stella to drop her guard!
Even the best warriors can’t just jump from battle to battle and hope to win – we have multiple modes of practice, success, and challenges that will make you a true champion!

I've already fell in love with the combat mechanics, because you can do something like launch combos into air slash attacks into special move attack XD
for a 2D hack and slash game, this game looks very promising and I can't wait for the full release and more updates in the future
kudos for the animator that made the intro looks like an anime opening <3

A game that is interesting in terms of story, built with engaging action-packed fights and easy controls to defeat multiple enemies. This is a 2D hack-and-slash game that I haven't played in a long time. The main character, Stella, is also presented very well.

The Good:
The gameplay feels solid. You can pull off some cool combos based on your character’s abilities, which gives a nice layer of depth. But if that’s too much, just mashing the attack button and dodging every now and then still works fine — so it’s fun either way. The art style really stands out. It’s all hand-drawn, which is super refreshing in a time where so many games lean into AI or generic digital styles.
The Bad:
The story is decent, but beating a boss doesn’t feel satisfying. There’s not much buildup — you just sort of get there without a challenge. Hopefully that changes in the final version. There are a few bugs here and there (to be expected in early access). One issue I ran into is the game freezing when using the LB attack combo, which forces a full restart. Seems like a bug in the way the combo or animation loads. Also, the music gets repetitive pretty fast. It’s not bad, just the same loop over and over. Hoping there’ll be more variety in the full release.
The Ugly:
Some levels clearly aren’t finished — missing assets, placeholder sprites, that sort of thing. t might be better if the devs lock those areas for now. Let players focus on what’s polished and working, like the core mechanics, instead of walking into broken or half-made content. It kinda breaks the experience.
Overall:
The game looks great and definitely has a lot of potential. Really hoping the devs take it further and make the most of what’s already a strong foundation.

This is one of the best games I've played in 2025. I've been following since it was just a short demo and was immediately in love with how much dedication the devs poured into this brilliant project. The story, even just the bit we could glance in the OP, is already extremely intriguing. The futuristic war references were completely beyond my original expectation, thinking this would only be set in a Fantasy/steampunk world. The animation is smooth, and I love the hand-drawn qualities everywhere. If anything, I do hope there would be a little more voice overs for crutial cut scenes, but even without those, what's there right now is already more than sufficient. The quality and attentiveness of this game is simply beyond so many that may have been developed by a larger team or with way more funds.

The combat mechanic is satisfying and the art style is an absolute yummers
Been following this game before the major update and now it had improved so significantly, the devs really listen to the players. Looking forward for the full release

Early Access is limited to about one hour’s worth of content when I played it, but it does give a good idea of the scope of the full game - plus you get to support an up-and-coming developer on their debut game!
So far I found the story to be well-paced and intriguing, paired with beautiful hand-drawn cutscenes that drew me (pun intended) into the narrative. The developers did the most with the time that they were given; dialogue is snappy, tutorials cut straight to the point, and story beats are delivered with an almost cinematic flair, interspliced between moments of high-energy action.
Combat is straightforward but fun, with Gale subtly guiding you along as your personal tutorial ghost. The only glaring problem I faced was the stun locking, which I felt was a little too punishing at this stage. What’s interesting are the bits of interactive environment, such as levers you can pull to drop things on enemies, or barrels you can throw to deal damage. There’s also an element of fan service which was very very cute.
With Early Access coming to an end sooner rather than later, I'm looking forward to what the devs have in store for the full release!

StellaGale, in its early access state, currently offers its first level along with some preview content which provides about an hour of game play (perhaps a bit more if you take the time to thoroughly read through all the dialogue). While the game is on the shorter side at this stage, it does a good job of introducing its core premise and game play mechanics. The game's visuals are definitely the star of the show, however its combat and storytelling could use some refinement. With further polish, I believe this game could evolve into something truly special. I'm looking forward to seeing how it progresses!
