Had this in my wishlist for a while and finally bought it and got around to playing it. For some reason in my head I thought it was a pretty popular indie title. Now that I'm finished with it and reading the reviews, I'm perplexed. Theres only 34 at the time of writing, but I got to say this is one of the best bite sized RPG's you could play today. The game is unique and the story is interesting enough that you could play it in a few sittings.

Fun retro post-apoc RPG, focused on items which is quite rare. Even the normal attack use items ( different ammo ) and there are quite a lot of different items. You level up your character like you want, they have some small difference and have different upgrades but nothing force you to use them a specific way even if some upgrades are way stronger. The world is contained pretty well, a lot of chests laying around with some minor exploration, they are never really far.
The one thing I did not like is that there are no shops, no currency, you can only craft and find items. There is a "Luck" stat that can give you more loot and a chance not to use items which is almost mandatory. I did not invest in it until the middle of the game and I was running out of items the whole game. The bosses are also huge bullet sponges, especially if they don't have a weakness or you run out of items for it.
I was enjoying the game until the last boss. I don't want to spoil anything but unlike every other enemies you don't see its health bar so you have no idea if you are wasting your time and need to level up or have a chance. I spent at least two hour trying and trying again, going back to fight some enemies, trying again. Every other bosses before I was able to fight and defeat with a couple tries but this one uses all the tricks available.

Great short game. Really interesting and fun combat and leveling system. I really enjoyed building the characters in different ways. The only real downside is that you're only really building your characters to either shoot or throw items, and that's not a huge amount of variety, but it's what I expect for a short little game like this. The game isn't very long at all, coming in around 6-8 hours. There's no need to grind unless you're going for achievements. It doesn't overstay its welcome and ends when it needs to. The story is solid. Big recommend from me.

Great little game. Nothing groundbreaking here, but does what it does very well: it has nice GameBoy-style art and nice chiptuney music, a battle system with a few cool novelties (but not so much that it overcomplicates things). Nothing outstays its welcome. The story is a little sparse, perhaps, but that may be a plus for some. I personally found this refreshing, given the tendency of many RPGs to drown you in text and cutscenes.
cool game, recommended

The hardest part is to resist the urge to hoard ammo and items. The game is nice with it's drops though, so don't be afraid and use what is available to you.

The game boy aesthetic is not really my thing, but it is pulled off very well.
It has some definite interface issues, like not being able to rearrange your items, or there being no way to exit the game from the main menu. Doesn't drag the experience down much, just minor annoyances.
Early on there's not much to the character customization, and there's no particular reason to specialize characters or build one way or another. But once you get enough weapon upgrade choices around midgame it starts becoming more interesting to build characters in different ways.
And finally I think the story was one of the better written ones among the indie RPGs that I've played. It moves quickly over its ~8 hour runtime and there were some developments I didn't expect.
