One of the best in the series. The refinements in this iteration of the Disgaea series makes it very fun. Whilst it doesn't have some of the QOL improvements in the other games what Disgaea 4 offers is tolerable.
As with all Disgaea games 4 does not disappoint with the comedy and providing you with likeable characters to recruit into your team. One of my favourite parts of the series is how the game balances the light hearted quips and banter with the serious grind.
You only really experience Disgaea games once you reach the end game AKA Land of Carnage. If you like building and maxing out your powers D4 does not disappoint. The only issue that I have with Disgaea 4 and Disgaea games in general is that they developers miss a huge opportunity to make the final boss battle be an epic, multistaged battle that actually uses strategy and tactics, where all your end game equipment matters a lot. However, the end game final boss battles in Disgaeas usually become a one shot fest, where you have to kill the boss on the first or second turn through proper placement and boosting the damage of your team. It is okay but if I have spent hundreds of hours to build an endgame team, maxed all stats and equipment they should be able to go toe to toe with the end game boss in a battle lasting 10-45 mins.
I still recommend this game to everyone despite my disillusionment after playing Disgaea games for over 20 years.

Take A Dump On The Face Of Common Sense! - Disgaea 4. It's also nice this game has all the DLC someone had to buy on the PS3 back in the day.

Where to start? What are the right words for this game. . . ?
My only exposure to the Disgaea games was Disgaea 2. I was hesitant to try this title, but a lingering desire throbbed and pulsed through my being to seize my attention. After much deliberation, I settled on this game, Disgaea 4 Complete+, as a purchase.
If you liked and played Disgaea 2, you will likely enjoy Disgaea 4 Complete+. It has the eccentric energies found in Disgaea 2, but more refined while still not taking itself too seriously. The newer battle mechanics and classes may seem overwhelming, but at their core, they are surprisingly fun to use, especially those that let your war party members unite their talents to do battle.
If you don't take your Japanese Role Playing Games or Strategy Role Playing Games seriously, and enjoy a near endless set of possibilities to toy with in terms technique and statistic manipulation, then I believe you will love Disgaea 4 Complete+.

played the ps3 and the vita versions. its a fun game were i love to come back to, the story varies between servicable, good and pure ridiculesness in a funny way. Gameplay is where it is at, the grinding is statisfying and seeing number go up is a nice loop. Many mechanics were u need external help is neccesary because every weapon can be slotted in innocents and every weapon can be leveled up to 300 times by doing grinding in the item world, also there is a chara world for more grinding but there are a few tricks that they dont teach you like diagonal tossing so u can have the rare wow moments and experience it for yourself. its just a fun game to dump some time in and forget it for a year or so just to pick it up and continue

This game probably has the best cast in the series. While I love this game, I do think it is overshadowed completely by 5 and probably 7 of this series.

Well, it's good. Campaign is more enjoyable than 5. Maps are nice, the story is ok and the primary cast is fun. The only negative thing were a few crashes during cutscenes.
Sardines for everyone!

A worthwhile addition to the Disgaea series.
Fun characters, signature zany Disgaea story.
Respectable QoL improvements, and interesting new mechanics; Chara World was a mistake tho.
