NightKnight is a fantasy archery VR game.
The game currently consists of a four week single player story mode campaign with co-op and multiplayer coming soon.
When I first started playing the game I found it to be very hard to land a shot and it kept sending archers, a harder enemy, at me so I kept dying. I was a few minutes away from giving it in but I persisted for a bit and I'm glad I did. I'm not sure why but the game seemed to decrease it's difficulty and sent far fewer archers in the early levels plus I found my preferred way to hold the bow and my aim got a lot better, I was finally having fun. I think it adapts difficulty at the start and it seems to start way too high so just stick with it for a while until it becomes easier then you'll have a great time.
The game play consists of you standing on the archers tower on a castles wall and every night skeletons, goblins, and other monsters attack and try to breach the castle. With your trusty bow you need to fend them off. At the end of each week you are rewarded with a new bow that possesses a different power. After you kill enough enemies you raise your bow above your head and activate the power. The last day of the week a boss monster turns up and spawns new enemies until you kill him. The enemies don't shoot you, they all aim for the castle gate to try and destroy it, if they do it's all over.
In the end I played it for nearly two hours, made it to fourth place on the leader board, and really enjoyed myself. I made it to day three of week four before I died but my video had to be cut off early due to a nasty popup that I didn't know had appeared over my recording. I added a screen shot of my results at the end for those interested. It's quite a good game and the price point is nice and cheap, when the multi player aspects are added it will be very good value.
I did notice it was very sluggish in the main menu an I was worried I wouldn't be able to play it but once I entered the game the performance was perfect. I was worried my GTX970 had finally met it's match but it was fine.
Take a look at my video to see what you think...

Cute game. Low poly style that I think was a PSVR port. Fun for a little while. Pick it up if you love archery and the game is on sale. I would pay $5 or less for this.

Fun game for a while, although it feels like abandonware at the moment with the last update somewhere end of 2018. Good to show off VR to newcomers, but won't hold your interest for long. I found the learning curve quite easy, but it's a pretty hard game to master. Waves are full of enemies if you don't hit them in one or two shots you will get overwhelmed quickly. That said, pick it up for one or two euros as it does not feel like it's worth more than that in the current state.

I am going to start this out by saying this game is an awesome tower defense style game. The first thing I noticed when loading into the story mode, was the bow mechanics. The aiming feels very smooth and that of a normal bow, or as close to a normal bow that you can get in a video game. The game seems like The Labs castle defense but with a twist. I like that after you beat each week in the story mode you are able to unlock new bows with different power ups, I wont say what they are as to not ruin anything for anyone looking to play.
Each week grows more difficult with the last week being insane and has defeated me still! If you like bow and arrow VR games, I definitely recommend checking this game out!

If you liked the bow and arrow game in the lab, then you will love this. Don't fall for thinking it is just a beutiful graphical upgrade, it also offers up some new gameplay ideas that make it worth a look. For example, archers are characters who do not need to go near the castle door to inflict damage. They walk to a spot, draw their bow, and shoot arrows at the door for damage. This helps make a simple game concept evolve into something requiring some thinking, besides just shooting arrows. The game is very new at this point and shows a lot of potential. The bones of a game, so to speak, are all here. Excellent graphics, excellent concept, etc.... but that's not to say there still isn't work to do. The game difficulty seems to ramp up too fast and there are some grammatical errors in menus. While the text is easily understood, it could still be fixed (yes, bad grammer bothers me.. I know many people it won't.) I haven't had a lot of time to spend in this game due to work restrictions at the moment, but the time I did spend in it was fun and enjoyable. While I think you can easily get a few hours of enjoyment out of this game.. for $15 it will still be considered a bit pricey by many. But if you find it on sale for $10 and you enjoyed the lab's bow and arrow game, then it is a very worthwhile addition to your vr library. And if they eventually do add multi-player as suggested in in-game menus, then it is well worth $15.
