Ok guys, let's be real. This game is better than CS2 and trashyrant. Screw battlepass and skins man, who needs a skin if you can mod your own weapons in your own server? In fact, its free!

The first thing you should expect when joining a server is it to have quake sound plugins, parachute plugin, 5 people who have inhuman skill and people speaking in a foreign language in the voice chat, oh and also de_dust2

Imagine, there is a version of Counter-Strike without skins and gambling and yet it is still fun to play.

Even 20 years after its release....

Don't let my 8 hours playtime fool you , this Old fella has been my thing since the good old days in LAN parties... me and the boys would spend our entire god damn budget in gaming lounges just gaming and I'm not kidding when I say...that most of us played 747 and assault... yeah good game download it , also idk why valve removed bots seems pointless , bye now!

Wonderful Steam classic, but is insanely hard to get into as a new player in 2024 with how small and competitive the active playerbase is. You're likely better off just playing modern CS, though the charm of this game cannot be understated and its a phenomenal FPS game that's still very active.

So I can say that for a large part of my life I played counter strike games. I started playing cs1.6 since I was a kid. I was playing with bots, I didn't even have speakers, but I still had so much fun. No matter how much nerves this game made me, I always came back to it. I love the Counter Strike series and always will. Counter Strike was my childhood alongside other games like GTA. I also really like Counter Strike 2, but Valve please kindly make a better Anti Cheat for this game. It's a shame for the community, it's a shame for the whole history of this name to be ruined by hackers.

The final, major version of Counter-Strike was released as version 1.6 on September 15, 2003. It is commonly and retroactively dubbed Counter-Strike 1.6 in order to distinguish it from other Counter-Strike games.
The influence of the series in mainstream game development has been massive, and easily noticeable in other franchises such as Unreal Tournament, Call of Duty and Battlefield. For over two decades we’ve witnessed this franchise top the most played charts and it looks to continue with the most recent addition of Counter-Strike 2.
But for a time, at least, we were able to enjoy the peak of competitive shooting away from loot boxes, microtransactions and in-game currency.
