Rise and Shine

Story is not good but everything else is great

Good game. Short and sweet. Lots of little secrets and Easter eggs, and the hunt accentuates the great artwork. Both puzzles and battles hit a sweet spot for me challenge-wise, taking a few tries without getting super frustrating.

Playing on a controller, the gameplay was pretty good although switching gun modes and bullet types effectively got confusing.

It took me about 3 hrs to complete the story, and I'm no speedrunner.

Rise & Shine is a 2D Action Platformer and Twin Stick Shooter where you play as a child named "Rise" who finds a gun named "Shine" during space grunts invasion, and then decide to team up to put an end to this gruesome invasion.
The game offers connected linear multiple stages which will lead you through the story as you go, you will meet NPCs who will help your cause during your mission and also you will find hidden secrets and bullet upgrades which you can use in different ways.
There are enemy screens where sometimes you can get overwhelmed by the number of the bullets on the screen, it's after all a Bullet Hell genre, you can counter back the bullets by shooting them, or sometimes take cover behind objects placed in fighting scenes which makes it more fun as well.
The music and OST were nice, suitable for war themed and invasion games. It gets more intense during battle sections.
There are very few boss battles in the whole game, but all of them were fun where you need to strategize your attacks and use of different bullets to overcome them.
This is a fun and very recommended 2D Action Platformer Twin Stick Shooter game if you're a fan of either or both genres.
