I wish COD would be this good again, but late-stage capitalism has decided that if you don't put Nicki Minaj and homelander in your game, mental rejects and gooners won't play it.

Just completed my sixth playthrough. One might think that's a bit repetitive, especially since I only just began playing this about two weeks ago. Well, midway through my first playthrough, a massive wave of nostalgia hit me harder than a train. A lot of the graphics were familiar and I had no idea why. I couldn't justify it. Then I got to the 'All Ghillied Up' mission, and it struck me. The release year of this game was '07. I used to sit in my dad's lap or stand next to him while he played this. I remember the little green arrow icons for allies, the graphics used for crouching and prone, and definitely the ghillie suit. I even remember the part when they were crawling in the grass between the enemies over the hill. Now, my dad's been gone for thirteen years. Playing this makes me feel a little closer to him. I couldn't appreciate the story then like I do now, but I'm glad that I bought this and gave the game a chance. He had good taste. I've already read all of my dad's old books, so now I think it might be the time to make a new goal. Maybe I'll play all of the games he used to own. (He loved westerns - he would have loved RDR and RDRII)

I'm 42 and I'm playing the game for the first time. I wasn't expecting how good it is. I dare to say this is the best of the Modern Warfare series.

An all-time classic, but I love this game and its sequels for a very personal reason: When I was a young teen, this game convinced me to NOT join the army. Despite what some people might think, and all the action packed gunfights and flashy explosions, the campaign ultimately has a very anti-war message that basically goes "yeah soldiering would be cool as a game with infinite health, but even in action land soldiers are considered disposable by the powers that be and quickly forgotten about in just a few hours" And if you have more than one braincell, you can do the math of which part of that holds true in real life.

For everyone asking, yes this game is still alive, just make sure you're on the Cod4X patch that can be downloaded when you first look for servers on the sever browser, its called 1.7 downgrade or Cod4x download.
Promod / tournament servers are still popular and alive as well, especially on the weekends. You just need to find the IP address on any game hosting website and manually connect to it like the OG days.
You open console and type " connect (space) ip address " and press enter.
Don't be fooled by the player count on steam, many promod players are playing on CD or a cracked version of cod4
