About the GameBuilders of Egypt: Prologue is an economic type of city-building taking place in the valley of the Nile. The story starts in a little-known protodynastic period in which you will be able to observe the birth of the Old Egypt and finished with the death of Cleopatra VII.
The most important aspect is the skillful management of urban planning by shaping the grid of streets, placing buildings and their mutual relation. Well-designed city will greatly improve economic efficiency which may convert into city income.
Diplomacy and politics:
The governor will face very difficult choices to be made in a constantly changing political environment. Costly expeditions, Pharaoh and other cities requests, military threat and a mixture of different cultures will be a commonplace. A series of wrong choices can cost the loss of trading partners and low interest in the city by settlers. Moreover, the total lack of obedience to the rulers may end up with a civil war.
Religion:
Deity will be able to interfere with daily life but it will be done implicitly. The main aspect of religion will be satisfying the need for access to the places of worship, providing supplies for temples or organizing festivals. Neglecting this sphere may result in a dangerous social unrest on a par with e.g. famine.
Trade:
Trade is the most important element in royal treasury. Without it, it is very difficult for economic stability built solely on taxes. Therefore, in the interest of the player, producing goods for export at prices that will be able to change dynamically depending on the geopolitical situation, will be required.

I wanted to be excited about this game, but my feelings on this right now are just... meh. I'm going to give it more time to cook, after all, this is Day 1 and there is a lot of room for improvement, but I sincerely hope that the devs are still working on adding more content. Otherwise, this game will just stay... meh.

Builders of Egypt: Prologue is a demo for the full-game release by PlayWay S.A. It is a city builder resource management game based on Ancient Egyptian history.
You start by playing through one of 4 scenarios or the main campaign. The aim of the game is to build houses for new inhabitants, manage labour, establish trade routes between towns, manage your resources. The main resource is bread which is used as a primary currency. When you build houses you need to ensure they have access to water. Every town needs a fire brigade to prevent houses from burning, an architect to prevent buildings from collapsing, a stockpile where your resources get collected and a bazaar for establishing trade routes. You can be attacked by aggressive animals or robbed by a thief. You'll have to build a police station to protect your town.
The game has a lot of nuance towards different mechanics. For instance, your townspeople can be influenced by things such as their proximity towards their workplace or other buildings. There are many different items to trade. You can run out of bread or storage space if you're not careful. You can mine for turquoise and then refine the minerals into jewellery which can be traded to other towns. You can decide how much your town is taxed and how much your people get paid. There is a high replayability because there are many ways to play. The soundtrack is decent and thematic. The game is historical and does a good job at setting the scene, for some it may be too long so it's down to personal preference. There is also a voice over at the start of every campaign. The UI may feel confusing at the start. There's a lot of different keys, sometimes you can be sorting through trying to figure out what things do. The icon buttons are well designed. The controls are fine, I use a combination of mouse and keyboard inputs. The sound effects are pretty immersive with birds chirping and bustling town chatter. Although sometimes there's a random crunch noise that sounds like someone eating an apple.
The graphics aren't great, the game looks dated even though it's a 2020 release. The shadows aren't very well rendered. The NPC characters mostly all look the same. There isn't much variety between them aside from a handful of different jobs and a woman NPC. Some of the mini-quests are broken too. Like the "find my wife / husband" quests where sometimes they aren't highlighted on the map. The game isn't well optimised. The save system is broken, I started a Hard game and then it saved as Medium. Sometimes when I save it saves as Medium and sometimes Hard. Don't know what causes this bug. Can't rename save files. The win conditions are glitched sometimes. I reached 12 prosperity and it was showing as 11/12. The game concept isn't very original, it was strongly inspired by classic games such as Pharaoh (1999) or Children of the Nile (2004).
Overall, this game is OK. Has a fairly long tutorial. There's a lot to teach about buildings and managing resources and / or such as faith, economy, diplomacy and trade routes between towns. It's a decent introduction, albeit buggy. I still enjoyed playing this demo. Makes me wonder about if the full-game is worth buying. I'm sure it contains a lot more content that isn't locked. There's also another title called Builders of Greece.

This has the feel of Caesar 3 without all the drive you crazy pathing and layout issue. You have a great deal of control on the storage system and the coverage area is area based instead of trying to get the stupid bazar workers to path to everything. I very much enjoyed the mission avalible and very much want more.

Builders of Egypt Prologue is excellent. I love the graphics, it's player friendly, and it has just the right amount of everything. I like it so much that I've been playing Builders of Greece Prologue, and want to play Builders of China, but I can't seem to find it on Steam. I saw it on here a while back, added it to my wish list, as I did the other two, but now it's not listed, nor is it in my wish list anymore. I intend to buy them all as soon as they come out. It is so nice to play city building games that are more realistic; most of them have a cartoonish look to them, so thank you, thank you, thank you so very much for creating them. You have made me VERY happy.

@StrategyLabs
For this being an EAG, it's really put together and pretty simple to figure out (even though I messed up big time lol). I would have to say that I do highly and I mean very highly recommend this game and it reminds me of Cleopatra and Caesar as well. The only main difference with this game though is the speed of the mouse (it's the perfect speed).
This game is so perfect as a demo/EAG, that I put it as my #1 on my wishlist when I watched some lady stream it. The first this that I thought overall is that FINALLY a city building game that I can fully get into and support the developers of this type. I know when it comes out on the 8th of this month that I will be wanting it.
Overall in ending; you must download and try this and trust me you will love it and will bring back fond memories of your childhood when playing games like this. Strategy Labs really out did themselves. Seriously this is a 10 out of 10 in all categories.
