Star Trek™: Starfleet Academy
There is a place in the galaxy where legends are born…Kirk, Chekov, Sulu. Before they were legends, they were cadets at the most celebrated training facility in the Universe — Starfleet Academy!
Now it’s your turn. Star Trek: Starfleet Academy includes over 25 missions designed to test your ingenuity, leadership and courage — and determine if you have what it takes to graduate first in your class. Going where no simulator has gone before, you’ll take on 30 of the universe’s finest starships, from the cloaking Klingon Bird-of-Prey to the Romulan heavy cruiser. To succeed, you must pass all the simulated missions, from simple combat situations, to a recreation of Kirk’s near-disastrous confrontation with Khan Noonien Singh, to the infamous Kobayashi Maru scenario. All the while, Captain Kirk (William Shatner), Commander Chekov (Walter Koenig) and Captain Sulu (featuring a special appearance by George Takei), will be there to provide instruction and inspiration!

I remember playing this game when it was new and coming back to it after so many years and for such a cheap price, I highly recommend Star Trek fans give this a try. There are a couple of instant game over points from story choices, so keep that in mind and make many saves.
The game uses live recordings, but with early PC gaming green screens and compression, so expect the visuals to be a bit lacking. But it's work it to see Shatner, Takei and Koenig return to their characters in the Monster Maroons. Set before Sulu takes command of the Excelsior, he is a temporary instructor for the Academy and brings the others with him. You are leading a crew of cadets while on the Command Track and running simulations, among the many missions being the famous Koboyashi Maru.
This is one of the early Trek games and I'm quite sure it is the first Flight sim Trek game being released originally in '97. Control's are not too hard to get to grips with, it's almost entirely keyboard control with the mouse just being used to select dialoge options and move between stations, however the startions can be done with the keyboard as well. But sometimes you just want to use the mouse to actually look at the stations and crew and not go straight into the stations window.
The production value even gets a bit more credit as not only are they all in uniform (Cadet Uniforms, Monster Maroons, Kingon and Romulan Uniforms among others), but one of your crew is an Andorian, a very rarely seen species in this time of Trek production. So probably all brand new cosmetics for this.

An easy recommendation, but a hard sell due to its age & the complexity of controls.
The interface is at once broad while also being limiting -- but in spirit it is possibly the perfect Star Trek game.
Shakespearean thespian William Shatner reprises his role of James T. Kirk for the digital screen, two years after the character's untimely demise in the maligned 'Generations' motion picture.
The game is set roughly two years before the sixth entry in the classic film run, as players embody some 50-year-old actor man with a bouffant who's still trying to portray a 20-something youth. You're a cadet at STARFLEET ACADEMY, and both Captains Kirk & Sulu are on deck to help mentor your graduating class. Soon, you become embroiled in a dangerous plot to disrupt the peace of the Federation!
Circle Uranus looking for Klingons in 640x480 resolution, and more -- but don't be fooled, it's a hard game to play.
The finale, however, is laugh-out-loud funny & a dynamite encore for the good Captain that made Star Trek a staple of hope in homes across the world -- so the voyage may be worthwhile for you. . .
...Or you could Youtube the FMVs and grab some popcorn. Beam me up!

If you love classic Star Trek and flight simulators, this game is for you! This game is one of my favorite PC games. I was so happy to see it on Steam! Phasers, photons, and cloaking Oh My! You can target individual ship systems, disabling your enemy and toy with them >:)

One of the best games of 1996. First real PC game I got new. Loved the real video acting. RIP Interplay
