ADR1FT is an immersive First Person Experience (FPX) that tells the story of an astronaut in peril. Floating silently amongst the wreckage of a destroyed space station with no memory and a severely damaged EVA suit slowly leaking oxygen, the only survivor struggles to determine the cause of the catastrophic event that took the lives of everyone on board. The player fights to stay alive by exploring the wreckage for precious resources, and overcomes the challenges of an unforgiving environment to repair the damaged EEV and safely return home.

Adr1ft is a first-person survival Sci-Fi game in open space. Actually, I think it's the first one that is using this approach with realistic physics for an astronaut by himself in zero gravity. The plot is summarised quickly: you’re a survivor of a catastrophic event on a space station orbiting earth and need to find your way back to the planet’s surface. With most of the systems damaged or offline, you’ll check the ones which might be of help for your emergency escape. Actually, the story will reveal a tragic turn on top of the already disastrous start.
After about 5 hours of gameplay in a rather completionist approach, here’s my pros and cons list:
Pros:
+ fresh approach to first-person games in space
+ great space graphics
+ earth rotation and day&night cycle
+ mostly realistic space movement simulating inertia
+ takes time getting used to inertia but player can quickly adapt to it
+ 3D, all axes movement
+ space station design
+ environment detail
+ intense intro
+ survival mechanics
+ most of how sound would be in space is realistic
+ it’s fun to float in space
+ personal stories and backgrounds of crew members
+ connection of crew with protagonist
+ tragic reasons behind the catastrophic setting hinted at from the start with dots being connected throughout the game, well done!
+ theme of human fragility and dysfunctional relationships
+ chapter selection after finishing the game
+ Some nice piano pieces adding to the very melancholic situation of the protagonist
Cons:
- Control layout is fixed
- I would say that oxygen as only gas for propulsion of the suit is a bit unrealistic, it would have another separate tank of some other gas
- Using only oxygen to move around, instead of space station walls, existing handles meant for movement in zero gravity?
- from a movement perspective, the protagonist, a certified commander of a space station and astronaut (!) feels like being a useless, clumsy rock in zero gravity… Honestly, nobody would send such a rooky up there
- some controls are strange, especially computer terminals (e.g. when just finishing another action before)
- Short item rendering distance
- why does the suit only leak outside space station premises?
- The space suit is super flimsy for such advanced tech, even when just slightly bumping into a flat wall, it’s easily taking damage…
- Because scanning is essential for such a cluttered environment, I was using the functionality so frequently it became annoying to always push it to activate, a toggle mode would have been better
- Very hard to know where to go most of the time, player needs to guess the next direction at least 2/3 of the game
- Navigation system is in 2D, although we’re moving in 3D all axes space, not logical and contributing to very difficult orientation
- Unnecessarily boring, super repetitive main tasks, especially checking the main terminal status over and over…
- Equally boring and repetitive music for long stretches of the game
- Massive section recycling
- Some music still playing despite being switched off completely
- Game crashed a few times after checkpoint loading
- Suit missing integrity / condition indicator
- Quest markers had an update issue for 1/3 of the game
- Some interaction mechanics were faulty
- Artificially stretched play time
- From a logical standpoint, why does the automatic system fix the suit’s integrity last if that would be the first, most important thing to do to ensure an astronaut’s survival?
- Boost should keep momentum in space, but it doesn’t, illogical physics
- Electricity sounds still travel the vacuum of space… fault in logic
- Sometimes the game had issues maintaining the defined screen resolution
Conclusion: Anyone who is enjoying a Sci-Fi survival setting, especially in 3D zero-gravity space will have their fun with this game, if they can look past some logical physics errors and rough edges from a gameplay perspective. Overall, I think it was an entertaining game, although comprised of too repetitive, dumb main tasks. On the other hand, the setting and background story made up for some of the shortcomings.
Thinking about it, I would actually very much welcome and enjoy a game that would improve the unrealistic, illogical components as well as rough gameplay parts, combined with more varied tasks and thrilling plot development. I’d be happy if another developer would do so in the future!

Bought it to play it on Meta Quest 3 as I already played it on PlayStation 4. Big disappointment! the video resolution is extremely low as if it's from the year 2000. I can't access the menu through quest 3 to change any of these settings as the menu button will make the screen black out. Port on the controls is horrible. Definitely needs a lot of work for Meta Quest 3 headset. I cant say for HTC VIVE as I see it advertised so I assume they don't have these issues. As for non-VR gameplay, it is a beautiful game worth buying. Don't bother if you want to use it with a Quest headset. Giving it a thumbs up from a non-VR perspective as I do own it on playstation 4 and enjoyed it as non-VR.

HI all, If you are readin this, have no fear.
All reviews u see are pretty accurate, the game is very relaxing yet drives you into an incredible journey around the station, You need to be wary of your oxygen and get those pods , if you venture to far from the path u simply die as u can not make it back.
If you are into space games like me, you will find this game to be very fun and exiting, i would recommend you to try this.

Being a sci-fi fan, This game was one of the first I bought on Steam. Here are the things I like:
Traversing space station in zero gravity is the fun and unique feeling you can get in this game. Never played any other game like this one.
The game is relatively short if you do a second play. You'll spend more time in finding different locations in the station in the first play.
This game also supports VR. Although I don't have one right now. But this game is going to be first candidate to test it.
I'd highly recommend this to someone who is into space and sci-fi RPG.

ADR1FT - Lost in Space with Little Hope 🚀😔🪐
ADR1FT has an intriguing premise: an astronaut adrift in space, grappling with a damaged EVA suit and a destroyed space station. Unfortunately, while the concept is gripping, the execution leaves much to be desired. 🌌💔
The game’s slow pace and lack of engaging objectives can make the experience feel more like a tedious float through space rather than an exciting survival adventure. The narrative, though promising, fails to captivate due to its meandering and sometimes confusing delivery. 🕵️♂️✨
The controls and mechanics are not as intuitive as one might hope, adding frustration to the mix as you struggle to navigate through the wreckage. The isolation, intended to enhance the atmosphere, often translates into a sense of boredom rather than immersion. 🛰️🔧
In summary, ADR1FT offers a visually striking space setting but falls short in delivering a compelling and enjoyable experience. If you're looking for a space adventure that truly captures the thrill of the void, you might want to look elsewhere. 🚀🔍👎

If you’re into Baldur’s Gate 3, Elden Ring, COD, or Need For Speed, then yeah... this game probably isn’t for you. But if you’re a fan of Breathedge, think of it like that—except with fewer jokes, less chicken, and a constant soundtrack of "Clair de Lune" from start to finish. In that case, it's a fantastic choice!
