Metal Slug 2 is classic arcade chaos at its finest with nonstop explosions, goofy enemies, and satisfying gunplay. The pixel art still looks fantastic today, and the animations are full of personality. Some slowdown happens during intense fights, but the co-op action and pure fun easily make up for it.

One of the best arcade games in 90s. I used to play this game in arcade in the mall when I was a kid, spending a bunch of quarter coins, and I enjoyed a lot. Now, even steam version is still very good.
Pro: Compared to Metal Slug 1, Metal Slug 2 added 2 new female characters for player to select. Also, this game added few new slugs like plane, camel, and jumping slug, making the game more fun.
Cons: I tried playing Metal Slug Xbox One controller, the control was sluggish. Playing with keyboard is way better.

Finally I’ve defeated the arcade machine, my quarters are avenged
But fr, if you want to experience the classic arcade game, Metal Slug 2 is great. Controls well, it does work on steamdeck, and a single run shouldn’t take more than 1 hour.
It even has the classic lag, which honestly is helpful considering how much is on the screen. It is much easier with a friend but you get unlimited lives so go crazy

Same amount of missions as the first game in the series, but levels are a bit longer, have more variety in bosses and setting, a couple new weapons, more chaos on screen, still great fun for a short, quick play through.

This s**t is pure, uncut arcade soul. This is one of those games that forged OG gamers, back when you had to actually git gud or go broke feeding the machine quarters.
The enemies are iconic. The bosses are absolute f**king units. The action is glorious, unfiltered chaos. And that pixel art, It still mogs 99% of the soulless trash that comes out today. Every sprite is packed with personality. The music is pure bangers, front to back.
Yeah, X is the polished, remixed version. We all know and love. But that doesn't make MS2 bad. F**k no. This is the raw experience.
Playing X is fine, but playing this is essential. It's the OG experience. Still a 10/10 game and if you skip it you're a certified pleb. Go play it.

You can play as female characters. A clear upgrade from the predecessor.

JUST REPLAYED MY CHILDHOOD!
This just reminded me how much I love METAL SLUG X. I was playing MSX so mush on my PS1, I just loved it, and still do. The arts (concept, sketches, and etc.) you unlock by completing the game, the unforgettable OST. I still think METAL SLUG X is the best MS in the franchise. For the people who don't know: METAL SLUG X is a revised METAL SLUG 2, the game is the same, but with new features (like getting fat when eating too much lol), weapons, more secret shooting bonuses (where you shoot at random walls, and etc. and they drop rewards, gems, jewels, etc.). So, of course MSX is better than MS2, but I still enjoyed MS2, it is still the same game, in the end of the day.
