The game is very easy to understand. There are no complicated mechanics or difficult choices to make. You click, earn points, buy upgrades, and watch the numbers go up. It is the kind of game you can leave running while doing something else and check back every now and then.
One thing it does better than the first game is that it feels a little cleaner. There are a few more upgrades and the progression feels slightly smoother, so it is not just a complete copy. It is still made mainly for achievement hunters though, with 5,000 Steam achievements to unlock, and that is clearly the biggest selling point.
The biggest problem is that the gameplay is still very repetitive. After the first few minutes you have basically seen everything the game has to offer. You keep buying upgrades, waiting for numbers to increase, and unlocking more achievements. There is very little strategy or variety, so it can get boring quite quickly.
I also think too much of the game depends on the achievements themselves. If you are not someone who cares about increasing your Steam achievement count, there is honestly not much reason to keep playing. Compared to other idle games, there are far better options with more interesting progression and mechanics.
That being said, it is cheap, simple, and does exactly what it promises. It never pretends to be a deep idle game or an amazing clicker. If your only goal is unlocking thousands of achievements, you will probably get what you paid for. If you are looking for an actual game with depth, this is probably not it.
Overall, Achievement Clicker 2018 is a small improvement over the original, but it still feels more like an achievement farming tool than a game you will remember. It can be fun for a short while, but the lack of variety means it does not stay interesting for very long.

44p spent for 5000 achievement points. Heck, this game even has a skill tree of sorts. Advice... Don't put an auto clicker on max speed on the game, it ground my Steam to a halt and forced a reboot... I have to give the game a thumbs up, it did exactly as I expected and gave me exactly what I wanted.
That last achievement is just plain frustrating by the way.. And yet here I am having done it, just to get the 100%...
