Lords of the Fallen
In the Time of the Ancients, the Worldly Realm was ruled by a God of pure evil, who enslaved all humankind under his Dominion. But fear turned to anger as rebellion grew in the hearts of men – until the dawn of the Great Rising, when the fight for freedom began. After a glorious victory that cast aside the Fallen God, humans dictated a new order… a world where no sin can ever be forgiven and redemption was not an option. Now, millennia later, the world trembles in fear as the Demonic Rhogar Legion returns from their dark realm, driven by a foul hunger for innocent spirits. Humanity, in a desperate last act, calls upon an unlikely defender – a convicted sinner, rejected by society and cast out of the light… a man known as Harkyn. Now, alongside his mentor, Kaslo, they must travel to the source of the Darkness… to face the Lords of the Fallen.

This game i have had for a while and although not completed in the time i have had it is a really enjoyable game. i have recently came back to it in 2019 and got slightly further than i did so im progressing slowly. this game is a learning curve and a challanging game from being a souls fan and other soul game a likes this is one of them from challanging combat to the awesome soundtrack. lords of the fallen is a lot slower however and bosses moves sets are very few and repetitive their are sometimes ganks in the boss fights which can also be annoying but if you can master parrying/backstabs then you can easily kill the small mobs. the world can also be confusing at times and may not always be clear on where you need to go.

If Dark Souls had a bulky cousin who works out too much, sleeps in full armor, and occasionally trips over his own attacks, this would be the game.
Lords of the Fallen is an action RPG that wants to be challenging and epic but sometimes feels like it’s battling the laws of physics more than the actual enemies. You play as Harkyn, a guy so heavy every step feels like a tactical decision. Combat can be satisfying when it hits, frustrating when it clunks, and always hilarious when you die to an idle enemy because you mis-timed your swing… again.
The graphics still look good, the soundtrack makes you feel important (even when you're not), and the story exists... a bit shy... trying to convince you everything makes sense. Overall, Lords of the Fallen is imperfect but entertaining, especially if you enjoy slaying giant monsters while questioning your life choices and your build.
Verdict: heavy, clunky, and charming... basically a medieval tank with an identity crisis.

Despite the very good visuals and nice art style, this game lacks something to hold my interest. It is extremely slow-paced. Your character moves slowly and rolls at the fastest speed you will see in a Souls-like game. Enemies are slow to attack and move, too, and most of them have shields, forcing you to wait for them to attack before you can strike. However, they sometimes take forever to do so. In terms of story and dialogue, it is easily forgettable.
I would encourage you to try it out for yourself, but don't expect too much.

Lords of the Fallen is a decent Souls-like game that I believe was somewhat overlooked. While it has its fair share of issues and shortcomings that can make players lose interest, I personally had a good experience with it. If you're willing to look past the bugs and certain design flaws, the game as a whole is a respectable entry in the genre. That said, it never quite reaches the heights of top-tier Souls-likes like Dark Souls or Bloodborne.
Some of the game's strengths include its solid graphics (even though it was released over a decade ago, it's still visually satisfying), an engaging atmosphere, a reasonably good upgrade system, music, and boss fights. Enemy variety is fairly good, though it could've benefited from more detailed design and behavior to keep encounters more interesting.
If you're looking for a Souls-like game to spend time with this summer, I think Lords of the Fallen is a worthwhile option.

I'm giving this game an overall recommend because I think it is a great game one you get used to it, and I'm a fan of the devs. Platinumed it on PS4 (over 120 hours) and then came here to replay. With that said, this game is not perfect. Combat is SLOW. If you thought OG Dark Souls was slow, this game is slower; may take some time to get in the flow of things. Graphics are amazing even in 2025. Level design is great and the atmosphere does not disappoint. Full strength build with a bit of magic is the way to go; agility/fast build is basically like putting it on very hard mode. There are better players out there than me, but personally I found fast build virtually impossible. If you are sensitive to screen shake, this game likely will not be for you. It's so exaggerated it's astonishing there is no option to turn it off. WIth that in mind, I was completely used to it within two hours. I'm personally a big fan of the series, but I realize for most people this is a "get it on sale" game.

honestly its a fine game. its old and it probably has not been updated for newer systems. it was never perfect. but its a fine game in its own right imo. its not dark souls and honestly, that is ok. its its own thing. can i rightly recommend it to people these days, probably not, but im going to go ahead and hit that thumbs up button anyway on GP. Do with this what you will.

Lords of the Fallen (2014) may not be perfect, but it’s far better than the “Mixed” reviews suggest. The game plays surprisingly well even today, with beautiful visuals, smooth combat, and no major bugs throughout. Movement feels sluggish at first, but once you manage equipment weight and get lighter gear, it becomes satisfying. The early game can feel punishing due to tough checkpoints and frequent deaths, but good armor and weapons appear quickly—making you feel powerful soon after. It’s a medium-difficulty experience that takes around 15–20 hours to complete, making it great for newcomers to the Souls-like genre.
At 95% off (around $1), this game is a hidden gem for low-spec PC players who want to experience dark fantasy combat without frustration. The only real wish? A map system—because getting lost is part of the horror.
