Temple of Rust
Somewhere in a distant universe, the world went terribly wrong. Evil powers took over the planet, spilling toxic waste into the groundwater and destroying any form of empathy left among humans. In this time of chaos and destruction you escape to the outskirts of this dystopian society and find a group of outcasts resisting the powers that be. Using an ancient, primitive projectile weapon and your boots to oppose the dangers of the wasteland. Sabotage militant corporations and fight your way to the multiple cores of corruption.
Gameplay:
You start out in a central hub, the camp. From here, you can choose one of the two main characters and enter a fresh run. After unlocking more parts of the game, you will also find others that join the camp and help you on your way. In each level there is a crate containing random boots or ammunition. Between stages you’ll meet a traveling merchant that offers you special upgrades, allowing you to create powerful attack combinations.
Features:
- Procedural seeded level chunks in six unique settings
- Fire tiny fanatic dictators, research chemicals or loaded machine guns with the sling
- Combine upgrades for different playstyles
- Local 2-player co-opĀ
- Full input customization
- 3 difficulty settings and other accessibility features
- Compact gameplay aimed at quick session bursts (approx. 30-60 min. per run)

This is not the next triple-A game in your library. It was developed from start to finish by just one person, which is remarkable. After a little practice, you'll know the mechanics of the game and it becomes more fun with each level. The enemies get faster and you have to plan your attacks well or you won't survive long. I like the variety of weapons, there aren't many games where you can shoot others with a bag of shit. The sound effects are a bit weak and should be improved. Nevertheless, a game that can be fun. Thumbs up.

Temple of Rust is a nice cozy Rogue Like with a decent touch of 80s Soundtrack, with a challenging difficulty, and randomly generated levels. But as the playable characters, also the game still got some way to go.
Graphics:
The graphic is good for what it is. Animations look a bit clunky in the store video, but ingame all runs ultra smooth.
The overview is on the steamdeck a bit better as on a classic display, these are at least my feelings. Enemys are visible as those, and there is an option to highlight them - Helpful for people like me ;)
Sound:
The sound is mixed, but got a tasty old school vibe. The effects sound great, aspecial the sling and picking up gold.
Controls:
The game is playable perfectly on the steam deck. On pc i used a xbox series controller and a cabled 360forpc controller. Of course no problems. And please enable the "b" button as "get back" in the menu.
Story:
Until now only a few chunks of a storyline. I want more ! The hub is a great way to forward the story with another characters. I hope there comes more !
Gameplay:
After a couple of short levels and a boss there is a possibility to buy upgrades like a drone which attacks on its own. In the levels itself are also item drops for better stats. An overview of all stats would be great ! Maybe onscreen ?
Overall:
Its a challenging rogue-like with great controls, but i wouldn`t say its a twin stick shooter. TWS are more fast-paced while Temple of Rust is more for sneaky attacks on enemies then a "all-in bulletrain" game. I recommend this game for everyone who loves this kind of game, and i hope there comes more content !

Finally came back to this after seeing the update list, got past the first boss! Its really fun, albeit sometimes a bit janky with its movement and combat.

Good if you like Hammerwatch.
Yays:
Nice art.
Combat is fast paced: you need both melee and ranged combat if you want to progress quickly enough; if you time an attack poorly or miss the right angle to attack, you're probably going to get hurt even early on; meaningful weapons.
Nays:
Got stuck in the tutorial and when I hit the vehicle for more players since it can't be cancelled.
Sometimes luck gives us no weapon upgrades in a run before a boss.
Game gives no explanation as to what NPCs do like the one with reroll fate dialog.
There are too many slowing spiders.
Suggestion: talk about unlockables ingame so players have an extra to look forward to.

really fun game, controls are a bit wonky, especially since its controller only, looking forward to future updates

I've not played this game for yearsss and seeing the 1.0 update dropping almost feels nostalgic of when I first saw this game and played it, tried it out and can't help but say that I'm impressed
