BLOKDODGE is a very simple arcade game, but I actually like how honest it is about what it wants me to do. I control a block and have to dodge waves of increasingly fast shapes for as long as I can. There is no story getting in the way and no complicated system that I have to learn first. I just start playing, try to survive and see how far I can get. It has that old school arcade feeling where the whole point is beating my own previous result.
The controls are easy to understand, which is important here because the game gets difficult pretty quickly. The longer I survive, the faster the shapes become, so I have to stay focused and react to what is coming at me. I like that the difficulty comes from the speed rather than a bunch of complicated mechanics. When I make a mistake, I usually know exactly what happened, which makes it tempting to immediately try another run and see if I can do better.
The power ups give the basic idea a little more depth. Every five levels I can spend points on upgrades that give passive bonuses or useful items, so there is at least some progression during a run. I like having these choices because otherwise I would simply be dodging things with nothing else to think about. They do not completely change the game, but they give me something to work towards while I am trying to survive for longer.
The biggest problem is that there is only so much the basic idea can offer. I am still dodging shapes every time I play, and once I have spent enough time with it, the lack of different modes or major gameplay changes becomes obvious. The game does have Steam leaderboards and achievements, which give me extra reasons to chase better scores, but the long term appeal mostly depends on whether I enjoy trying to beat my own records. There is no campaign or bigger progression system to keep expanding the experience.
I do like the simple geometric presentation and the relaxed music. The game does not try to make itself look more complicated than it is, and the clean visuals make it easy for me to see the hazards coming. The chill music also works nicely against the increasingly frantic gameplay. It is a funny combination because everything on screen can become chaotic while the soundtrack stays fairly relaxed.
Another thing that helps is that BLOKDODGE is completely free to play. For something this small, I think that is important because I can simply try it without feeling like I need to get dozens of hours out of it. It works well as a quick game when I want something that requires concentration but does not require me to remember a story, manage a huge inventory or spend time learning complicated mechanics. I can play a few runs and stop whenever I want.
Overall, BLOKDODGE is a decent little arcade game that understands its limitations. I like the simple controls, increasing speed, power ups, clean presentation and the satisfaction of trying to survive a little longer each time. It does not have enough variety or depth for me to rate it alongside the stronger arcade games I have played, but it does not really need to. For a free game built around one simple idea, it gives me a straightforward and enjoyable challenge that works best in short sessions.

Невысокая цена и простая механика делают BLOKDODGE привлекательной для широкой аудитории игроков.
