Pretend Cars Racing 2
If you thought Pretend Cars Racing was great, you will love what we have done with this new game!
Pretend Cars Racing 2, as its predecessor, is an old school top-down racer, featuring split-screen multiplayer, with a driving model has the right mix between arcade and simulation. You will be having fun in no time but with its high skill ceiling, you will spend hours chasing your best possible lap time, whether you are racing AIs, friends or the top spot in the global leaderboards.
TRACK EDITOR AND CUSTOMIZATION
You will be able to recreate your favorite tracks or create the track of your dreams with a simple to use Track Editor. Customization doesn’t end there, you will be able to personalize drivers looks and names.
NIGHT AND DAY TRANSITIONS
Race at any time of day and enjoy endurance events with real-time or accelerated time of day, with varying light conditions.
NEW PHYSICS MODELLING
A completely new physics model improves handling and feel of the cars and the possibility to have FWD, RWD and AWD cars. It brings the game closer to simulation, without losing its arcade spirit.
IMPROVED VISUAL EFFECTS
The new lightning system is not the only visual change in the game, with new particles effects, sounds and permanent skidmarks, races feel more alive than ever.

A clear improvement on the first Pretend Cars Racing, with better pixel art, physics, day / night cycle, more content such as cars and tracks, as well as the option to use the workshop and a few more features to come. As it will be in early access for a short period.
As with the first game, I want to highlight the different types of cars, how they handle differently, and how much fun it is trying to beat the lap records on each track with every car.
There’s a demo available, give it a chance.

I bought the demo going in blind, i haven't played the first game at all so i had no clue what i was getting into
sure the game is fun
but nothing is even remotely race-able or winnable in the conditions that you end up playing in. i get its an arcade game and not some sim or something like forza (sim-cade) but i at least want to actually race the ai instead of having a match of "Objective: Survive (Optional)"
the game can be fun and time consuming, but i don't get how you can have a championship mode and a career mode up and coming knowing how the AI performs.
on a side note, the AI is strangely indestructible and the players car seems easier to spin or wreck than the ai themselves which i don't get either.

First impressions are, this is a good overhead racing game. I am currently going through the championship to unlock the cars. I like the fact that each car handles differently. I look forward to seeing this game develop. Saw this recommended on a video by Higher Plain Games and that's what convinced me to get it.

Oh snap! It's very good.
The driving, to me, is S-tier. Right up there with Woden ... like, this is a solo dev who really gets arcade driving.
Wild package for the price. Absolute no-brainer of a purchase imho.

It's just fun! Love the look, gameplay and physics! And it's a steal for the price.
Only wish: Option to set an individual (closer) zoom especially for SteamDeck (runs like a charm btw) to make out the cars better and enjoy the pixel art even more.

I'm always looking for games that don't need a ton of processor or graphics power that I can run on my laptop for killing some time every now and then. I have a few other top-down games like Super Woden, Ultimate 2d and Art of Rally (the latter not really falling under the "low power" games...but it is top-down). This one runs perfectly on my older Thinkpad running Fedora Linux and I found it quick to suss out the controls. I started it on the lowest AI settings, but quickly bumped it up as I learned. The AI is decent...nothing to write home about, but typical of this type of an arcade game. Very happy with the game and look forward to seeing it grow!

Pretend Cars Racing 2 is an awesome racing game. Just like the original but with everything turned up to 11. More cars, more tracks, better graphics.. And it's even getting a campaign & map builder.
