Realms of Madness
Realms of Madness is a fantasy castlebuilder real-time strategy game. It has a singleplayer campaign and multiplayer support.
My lord, your castle awaits you. Embark on the grand endeavor of building a medieval fortress in this fantasy real-time strategy game. Manage your economy, acquire upgrades and strengthen your deadly weapons arsenal, all in preparation to lay siege on the opposing castle.
Realms of Madness is a castlebuilder RTS experienced from a unique sideways perspective. The game consists of three distinct layers. Delve into the depths of the ocean, constructing underwater habitats to summon enigmatic nautical creatures capable of subduing ships from below. On solid ground, witness your soldiers, trolls, and formidable siege weapons unite to dismantle enemy fortifications. In the expansive sky, your fearsome birds and mythical beasts descend with destructive force. Juggle strategies across these layers concurrently to orchestrate a flawless assault. As time progresses, accumulate ability points to unlock chaotic abilities on the ability-tree. Deploy these abilities judiciously in times of dire need, as they possess the potential to decisively shift the tides of war in your favor.
- Dominate the skies with the aid of birds and winged beasts. Engage in ground battles deploying soldiers, wizards, trolls, and siege equipment. Command the seas utilizing ships and subaquatic creatures.
- Raise powerful walls enhanced with modular upgrades like fire braziers, traps, and towers.
- Attain chaotic abilities by investing ability points earned during combat.
- Deploy squad-based soldier formations that can accumulate experience. Preserve their lives, and they will progressively increase in skill.
- Conjure extremely powerful dragons in the late game.
- Collaborate with friends or engage in fierce battles against each other in online multiplayer.
- Interact through dialogue with fully voice-acted characters.

The first 3 missions I've played are FANTASTIC. i really, really like the lack of push pause counter-balanced with a slower pace. Its perfect for an average gamer (non-rts pro lol) imo. There's a very large jump in difficulty on mission 4 but the dev was extremely quick in saying they would get on it (balancing the wave timing, etc.). I mean im talking its 4am EST and they responded to me in MINUTES about fixing the difficulty spike. That is amazing and shows me they really truly want to make sure this game is a treat for everyone and they will continue to balance it as we play it (just like any good game dev does!). Other than that, no bugs, the progression is fun so far, and the music, voice acting, and art/art-style are all SUPERB; im talking EXCEPTIONAL. I cannot wait to play more of the campaign.
Edit: From level 5 onwards things jump up in difficulty, as I mentioned above (it was 4 but that level got fixed). The dev is working on balancing this stuff but just realize that its a process. I doubt it will take them long to get things sorted: (get some sort of difficulty sliding scale or the enemy army appearance timing right on every level). I'd also like to see there be a little bit more reason to stick around on each level- if only for another 5 or 10 minutes each level. As is, once you are able to breach the first towers the enemy encampment is an absolute breeze. Again, some balancing needs to happen but the game is super unique and worth sticking around for. I think it IS worth buying right now even with the issues I mentioned. The dev has shown, so far, that they are dedicated to this game post-release AND are quick about it. Im sure anyone who liked Kingdom 2 Crowns or similar games will like this.

a highly repetitive but good game reminiscent of a flash game on the higher-end of the quality scale. if this was released back in the old internet it could of gotten lots of fame and fond remembrance.
the gameplay loop is solid and if this is your kind of thing, somewhat addicting to the point where it will keep you going throughout the campaign even though you will be doing the same thing over and over again with little variety after the desert world, even with new unlocks and enemy threats.
the game does get more challenging at least as time goes on while not being overbearing which is good design. some have complained about difficulty spikes, but i am currently in the land of snow & ice and i haven't felt like i've been getting outscaled at all, so i am unsure as to where they are coming from.
the artstyle & artistic quality is also superb and very nice to look at, personally i liked the voice acting even if some lines can sound weird at times, music is good enough to where you won't get the urge to mute it even as it plays on a loop over and over again.
highly recommended experience, especially if you are old enough to remember & liked the burgeoning small-time hobbyist developers of the flash era of yesteryear. the creators of this deserve the support (money).

Very interesting concept for a game, like a mix of Kingdom Two Crowns and Stronghold. You have to build your village up, research upgrades, keep peasents happy so you can tax them more and then build an army to defend or attack.
I played the first mission
Pros: game looks good, the peasents and the village looks lively, there is quite a bit of strategy involved in the management.
Good content and fun gameplay loop.
Cons: a bit boring, after 3-4 missions you can have the perfect spreadsheet to always play it the same way, therr is a tech tree but you slowly get points to unlock it, not enough events to keep the game interesting.
The game is worth the price but i dont like the gameplay loop, i played the demo a while back and i thought the game would become more dynamic.
The game is great for an indie but something is missing like when you are eating a schinitzel with french fries but you want a ketchup-mayo or spicy cheese sauce because it would make it so much better

I played Open the Gates from the same developer which I really loved, so I ofcourse had to buy this one.
Have played it a little now and am already loving it! The new mechanics, maps and storyline are great.

Feels very polished and draws you in quickly into the story.
As someone who haven't played any RTS games before, it took a round to get the hang of the game, but once I understood what I was doing it was very exciting.
Basically you build your town, then build an army, to finally battle against the enemy on the other side and exterminate their town.
Lots of upgrades, buildings, and army members to unlock, like dragons and battleships. You play against increasingly more difficult enemies in a variety of "realms". Seems like it has a lot of content.
Good game. I recommend!

Wonderful game. Reminds me of medieval games I used to play back in the day. This game hits that sweet spot between nostalgia and fresh gameplay. You start with a lonely castle on one side of the map, building your medieval town piece by piece, training soldiers, and fortifying your walls. And then, it's watching epic clashes unfold across the battlefield. A must-play for anyone who loves classic 2D strategy!
