Sheltered 2
It’s been twenty years since the world as we knew it ended. The last of humanity splintered into opposing factions. Will you unite or conquer?
Building upon the original 2015 fan-favourite, Sheltered 2 brings new challenges and deeper strategic gameplay. You are tasked with creating a leader and building up your faction whilst managing resources and tackling threats both natural and human. Everything from starvation and dehydration to radiation poisoning and enemy raids can prove fatal.
Sheltered 2’s new Factions system is pivotal to a base’s success. Send out expeditions to explore the vast wasteland and forge relationships, or bitter rivalries with other camps. Trade resources to grow and thrive together; or go head-to-head with rivals in an expanded combat system and grow your foothold in the wasteland. Will you ally with or dominate the other factions?
Features:
Factions: New to Sheltered 2, the Factions system allows you to create relationships with other groups that will provide your base with resources and support. Or grab your weapons and take things the old-fashioned way.
Resource Management: Balance the needs and wants of your survivors, manage scarce resources, craft what you need and maintain the shelter’s equipment to keep the group alive.
Faction Leaders: New in Sheltered 2, the faction leader is the most important member of a shelter, boasting their own unique and powerful traits, the faction leader will be pivotal to success, with their death meaning game over.
An Unforgiving Wasteland: Starvation, asphyxiation, extreme temperatures and combat are just some of the challenges you’ll face in the harsh wasteland of Sheltered 2, and without the ability to respawn, every decision could be fatal.
Combat & Weapons: When negotiations fail, wield a huge variety of makeshift weaponry against hostile outsiders. Fight to the death in turn-based combat to win the critical resources you need to survive.
Characters: Your survivors have their own personalities, traits, desires and a huge list of skills to acquire. Customise them to your liking and make your faction members unique and individual.
Vehicles: Find and fix more vehicles to explore the wasteland with, from Bicycles to Pick-up trucks.

its honestly such a shame what happened with both this game and the developers of the game
first things first.. the game, i personally quite like it, as someone who has watched a ton of lets plays of the first game, and have 100% it and done everythin in the first game in one run.. the sequel feels quite alot like the first one, alot of stuff have improved since then, however the thing alot of people dont like is how they went from a 2D pixel artstyle, to a completely 3D experience, i will agree.. the character models do look abit worse for wear, and its not the kind of pretty artstyle choice, however in the roadmap if the team hadnt been shut down, it was shown that they would improve on the models,
the combat is more or less the same as the first game but now you can have 4 people instead of 2, and there are alot more options now with more skills to use, i personally dont mind that they changed it to 3D cuz it works well with the building system above your bunker since you have more placement freedom instead of being locked to a small tight 2D grid, ontop you can place alot of windmills and what not close to eachother
the map is quite alot nicer too
now this is just stuff ive heard from here and there, but apparently the dev team gut shut down by Team17, first things first... the game was released and marked as a 1.0, when it clearly was an early access, apparently some say the devs had wished they had released it marked as an EA release, the devs are ukrainian and around the time the team got shut down, russia had invaded ukraine which messed up development by a whole lot, we got one update from the roadmap and that was that, development slowly snailed down to a halt due to the circumstances, and eventually Team17 pulled the plug, so now we got abit of an unfinished game here
but dont get me wrong, you can still play the game from start to end, its just missing some QOL features and extra small content they had planned, but alot of the shown majority stuff was added, im quite happy they managed to get the pets update out as i love having a cat at base and a dog to bring along with me on trips, tis a shame we couldnt get a horse this time around like the first game, could be quite fun
but yea,,, would i recommend this game? damn right i would, if you think 20 is a steep price, maybe wait for a discount, idk if team17 throws discounts at this game anymore, but there are cheap keys which you can buy, but im certain you can more than easily get over 20-30 hours out of your game, hell i made a new save and so far im 33 hours into it... for 20 euros, thats a pretty good deal if you ask me
so if you liked the first game, id say give the sequel a go, just know that there are some mods on nexus which can help abit with certain features which is abit eh, like when lightning hits a lightning rod then some of your electronics dont just get set on fire, sure it maybe makes sense? cuz too much electricity at ones, but its not fun in a gameplay standpoint

As someone that put hours into the original, I don't quite get the mixed reviews to an extent.
They have made this so much better, not just graphically but with the whole concept of travel and it's a beautiful game.
It's frustrating that it takes so many run through's however before realising all of the different beautiful elements and choices that make up this game...it took me forever to realise how to recycle... it's also annoying when you grow to love a bunch of characters you're helping to survive, only to get slaughtered when looking for stuff by a faction only two weeks, one against three. sigh. But that's the apocalypse right?
I love this game. Sure it's got it's faults. But after a long day in work, it's a great game to just chill and let the hours pass.

It's been a very long time since I've played this game, but recently started craving it and hoped that there was a third game. Sadly, that doesn't seem to be the case, but I saw the "mixed" on reviews and didn't think that was at all deserved. Combat is more simple than an old-style JRPG, but base management and world map route planning was where it was really at. Handling the factions when that was introduced was a VERY nice touch. I very much hope that they put out a 3rd game in the future.

The release of this game was VERY disappointing BUT the latest version of the game is very playable.
Sheltered 2 is just as good as the original Sheltered but it's a different game. It doesn't have simple pixel graphics, simple game mechanics and it doesn't have personality/humour. So kind of forget Sheltered (1).
You still live in a bunker, you still send people out to discover/loot/kill/gather and you still get to upgrade your gear and some structures and that's good fun.
Instead of bringing water with you on expeditions you bring food rations.
The random meetings on expeditions are either with civilians who either wants to kill your team or trade with them OR with faction members and then your options are fight or flee. None of the options have any meaningful (or fun) dialogue.
If you chose to fight factions they will storm your bunker eventually, sometimes two factions at once if you've been very naughty.
With the right charisma skill the factions can be totally avoided. Build a bookcase and let the expedition team read to level 6 charisma and choose "Mission of Mercy". Bingo.
The skills are mostly a load of BS so you pick the ones that help in a fight. The developers seems to have been really bad at coming up with useful skills and/or how to implement them in gameplay.
Making food stuffs is a bit more nuanced and you can actually make different dishes with the food you grow. The temperature restrictions on what you can grow is overly constricting. It IS very possible to grow what you need but and it takes planning and a lot of shelves to get the later game dishes on the menue.
The shelter environment consists of heat, water, air and goop (and sometimes fire). The heat managing seems to be hard for some players to get a grip on. If you put a radiator and a cooling fan, both set on the same temperature, in the same area they keep the temperature at a comfortable level for the inhabitants all year round. They only use energy if they are working against temperature differences, so you will not use up more energy using them at the same time.
The incinerator is very useful for conserving energy. If there's a breach you can burn the intruders' bodies for many hours and save fuel.
The pets (only cats and dogs, I miss my trusty horse) are a bit more of a nuisance but they are helpful. Don't forget to clean the litter box. You can have chickens.
The easiest way to get through the game is to kill off all the faction leaders but you miss out on the little bit of narrative there is in the game if you do.
For some reason the game puts my graphics card (Gtx 1660 super duper ding dong) at 100% even at the lowest settings, and it really shouldn't.

On sale, its an amazing buy. Don't think I would have been happy paying full price for this. Feels like it needed a little more work. I've definitely had a good time with it. Just feels like its missing a few more tweaks and polish.

Figuring out how to play the game is a little bit hard, especially the combat system, but once you play and figure things out, the game is very fun and I highly recommend.

Not that different to the original. Still pretty fun but it needs more content.
