Zombie Party is quite an oddball game. But its absolutely a lesser known hit and passion project. At it's heart, I feel like its an amalgamation of the following media/games
Eat Them! (2010 PS3 Game)
The Boys (TV Show)
Infectonator-Flash Game Series/Flash Game Classic
Resident Evil
I'll mention each piece of media and how things mish mash with the title
The Boys-This game has you go up against a collection of 5 super heroes that are famous and well known around America. Like in The Boys, these superheroes are very crooked and conglomeritized, You'll see everything from the hero characters talking ♥♥♥♥ between each other via texts you spy on to each character acting all righteous for the cameras and in front of the public, when in reality, they're very scummy people.
It also doesn't help that EVERY hero character you fight against is or has been experimented on in one way or another
Resident Evil-Unlike The Boys, rather than a megacorp focused on STRICTLY building superheroes as brands and big names like Vought, this is like if parts of Vought had a baby with Umbrella Corporation, they have a hybrid focus on utilizing superheroes like Vought, but their major focus is bio weapons, viruses and DNA experiements and science focused around blood and mutations, like Umbrella. It doesn't help that this also takes place on an alternate Earth, like many RE games.
Eat Them!-This was a PS3 exclusive Rampage style game, but the main "chunk" if you will, that Zombie Party takes from Eat Them! is it also is a campy revenge story like in that game where you play a neglected and betrayed mad scientist who is getting back at the heroes he once worked with.
It also has a small variety of missions like Eat Them! which are NOT strictly "kill everyone in the area/destroy everything)
Last but not least is Infectonator
Much like in that game, this is a zombie outbreak game that is an RTS where you ARE the zombie this time, controlling a horde and trying to dominate the lands and settlements you come across, as you succeed or fail attacks, you gather resources from your kills and use them to upgrade both individual zombie types as well as the scientist you control as the main character.
The art style feels like a nice hybrid between Infectontaor World Dominator (More pixelated and primal/minimalistic environments) but more detailed human spritework and zombie designs/sprites, similar to Infectonator 2
Where the game gets i ts final mishmash and melds nicely though, is it has base management
Everything from building base structures to mutate zombies or unlock new types to building blood harvesting towers in order to make better base defenses. This is a strategy and resource management game both on and off the field so to speak
I can reccomend this game as long as you go in not expecting a grand game or the greatest game ever, but a damn fun romp, and a great example of a game that knows how to follow the "inspired by" formula, rather than rip off formula. It wears its inspirations on it's shoulders proudly, but it amalgamates them well and forges it's own identity nicely

The game was pretty fun but the translation could use some work, Phantom has like 3 different names and sometimes there's no space between some words. I also wish there was a way to view the cutscenes again, like a button in the settings that makes them replay when you re-enter a level.
