When The Past Was Around – Prologue
Wishlist the full game here!
the GameWhen the Past was Around – Prologue is the opening chapter of an upcoming adventure point-and-click puzzle game about love, moving on, letting go, and the joy and pain of everything in between.
The game is directed by Brigitta Rena, creator of A Raven Monologue and She & The Light Bearer.
This is the story of Eda, a girl in her early 20s.
Like anyone in her age, she’s lost.
She lost her way in the journey to achieve her dreams.
She lost her way in the journey to find love.
That until she met The Owl.
The man that would help her burn her passion,
the man that would help her find the spark in a relationship,
and also the man that would teach her about heartbreak.
The game tells a bittersweet tale between a girl and her lover in a surreal world consisting of disjointed rooms from memories and time. With each gathered clue, solved puzzles, and unlocked door, the girl will find her way, unraveling the secrets between her and her lover, the secrets which she used to know.
Features:
- Personal and ubiquitous. It’s a game about overcoming the past and finding the self
- Open the treasure chest, drink tea, doing laundry. Various puzzles to solve and many mysteries to uncover in everyday familiar objects and activities
- A sweet and whimsical journey set in a series of hand-drawn, down-to-earth settings
- Atmospheric violin music will accompany you from the peaceful days to the angstiest moments
This game was part of #MojikenCamp, an internal upgrading program by Mojiken Studio to experiment with how to tell stories or to communicate an experience within the constraint of interactive art medium.

Gorgeous. Immediately heartbreaking and heartwrenching in an understated, soft, gentle but devastating way. Tells an emotional story in a very short runtime, gorgeous art and music, and the gameplay strikes just the right spot for a point-and-click with puzzles that are simple but make instinctive sense, fun and cute, non-frustrating. Absolutely in love with the sort of intimacy conveyed by the gameplay and art.
I was planning to play the free demo next, but you know what, no, I'm immediately buying the full game and will be checking out the rest of the studios and creators' stuff, this is exactly my jam.

First Impression: I heard only good things about the game so I wanted to give the demo a try.
As a point and click game, the controls are very easy. So the player should be engrossed with the music and lovely artwork.
In addition, to advance the story, some puzzles must be completed.
Music: The music was pleasant to listen to.
TL;DR Review: A great demo that provides a teaser for what the finished product is going to be like (in terms of gameplay and experience). So if you are considering buying the full game, I'd recommend giving this a try.
Would I recommend this?: Yes

The demo is a pretty quick play, I like the artwork and the fact the puzzles aren't difficult. Don't want to come home from work and start a game to relax only to get stumped and frustrated. The music was soothing although I'm not sure I'd enjoy listening to it for hours. I feel like the girl is going to be left alone and brokenhearted when her friend dissolves into memory at the end--note, I haven't played the main game so don't know if that's the case.

Really makes me want to play the full game! Beautiful visual storytelling with simple puzzles that remind me of the Rusty Lake series, but much easier. I love the art style and cozy vibes.

A very simple yet soothing game. Full of puzzles but easy to follow! The story flow is wonderful and it's a little sad along playing with it. Love the art and aesthetic of the game!

Very beautiful, such a lovely game. The illustrations had the spirit of some beloved children's books, but way way better.
