I have loved this game since it came out. It pains me to see its current state, another great game destined to fail because of EA's greed. This was my go-to game, play it all day when I could, now I just end up closing the game after one match.
I guess I would still recommend it if you want to try it out because it's a free download, so it's really not a monetary commitment to install it. You can dedicate as many hours as you want to see if you like it before uninstalling it if you don't.

The game is amazing, but the company running it is high key shit. The game play has an infinite skill ceiling that you'll be striving to improve everyday. The movement is so fluid and immersive that it'll replace your perspective on it entirely. You'll feel so and sluggish in every game you play after this one because that's its stand out quality. The gun play in general is also flawless. This is one of the peaks in battle royals, if only the game was treated better.

This is the best game in the Battle Royale genre, yet also the worst-run. APEX boasts the worst servers and anti-cheat systems in the gaming industry, yet it offers unparalleled gameplay and excitement, akin to a delightful pile of shit.

This game gave me ptsd, aids, depression, anger issues, erectile disfunction, cancer, it made me racist, sexist, homophobic, I became a homo, took hard drugs, lost my girl, my family, my social life, my house, my car. Overall a great game, would definitely recommend, the controls feel amazing and it feels satisfying to play it.

Game is really fun but the devs let it go pretty badly, they removed their one saving grace which was being able to buy out a full pass then earn another one. The game is fun, but man they letting it go.

I have enjoyed playing this game for many years but I simply can't recommend it for newer or returning players.
Major issues with the game that would make this unplayable:
Cheaters in all game modes. AIM bots, wall hacking, teaming up, etc.
Matchmaking in ranked is an uphill battle. On your team will be players below your rank, while everyone you fight is higher ranked. Matchmaking keeps changing every other season, no transparency.
Server tickrate or lag compensation favors players with higher latency. You will constantly get shot behind cover or when you peak, even though on your screen you are behind cover
AIM Assist for controller players is a soft aim bot providing inhumane react times when strafing and accuracy that isn't possible on mnk. The average controller player will consistently land shots on high tier mnk players. Screen clutter has no impact on AIM Assist, as it will still track you. No transparency regarding stats.
Skins/Battle pass are extremely expensive. Instead of allowing all players to enjoy the digital products, EA/Respawn is listening to the consultants so only the minority with money can afford them
