Twilight Epoch
The epoch of night is approaching. The drifting planes that still light the sky fade like embers, and the powers that live to see them covet dominion of the few centuries that remain. A young man from a distant plane is taken from his home, and fights to find peace, before all ends with a whimper.
Twilight Epoch is a science-fantasy action-RPG, taking a party of characters on a story-rich journey through a space of imaginative worlds, with real-time FPS combat that uses a unique party member system to emulate the emergent strategy and preparation of turn-based JRPGs.
EXPLORE THE PLANES
Towering brass cities, eventide glades of fantasy, shadowy space-piers in lawless lands; the Solar Weave is home to a variety of hand-crafted worlds waiting to be discovered.
PREPARE YOUR PARTY
6 characters, 18 weapon classes, plus a wide range of skills, abilities, armours, and weapon sidegrades that all make meaningful differences to how you play. Swashbuckle and parry with dual cutlasses, rocket jump with a mecha arm cannon, save the day as a knight in explosive armour, or just hit people with a big rock.
UNCOVER THE PAST
Immerse yourself in a grand story brought to life with detailed passages of prose, telling a personal tale atop a brewing intrigue and an ancient tragedy.

Game design literacy check. Has a free demo and is both very unique while still being a real game rather than some weird art experiment. Recommended, do expect jank though.

I have only beat book one but this game is already highly worth the price. I have never played anything quite like it. A crazy hybrid FPS Action RPG with STG style runs, ranks and bullet patterns. Highly recommend.
Also the game looks great on a CRT monitor and is the correct way to play this title

There really isn't anything else like this fast paced, narrative driven game that's a bit like a dungeon crawler if you put it on pure caffeine, made it a first person shooter like Doom, and poured in a hefty helping of bullet hell elements. That's already unique enough, but the fact it has a surprisingly deep narrative is another surprise, and Twilight Epoch is absolutely full of them.
Be warned, however: The learning curve for the game's systems is very steep even with a tutorial, and the game doesn't get easier after that. This is a punishing experience, and while I personally love how challenging it is, it might not be for everyone. But for those this game is for, I recommend it highly.

Positives:
1. The environments I adore. They are dreamy, medium size, and there is a lot of variety! I would play this game just to walk around.
2. Fast pace combat. Dodge and shoot best you can and switch between your party members(weapons) is pretty fun.
3. Music can be sparse but when its there I enjoy it.
4. The story has a unique writing style which I did enjoy
5. Different weapons! You don't know what you'll get and they have some variety
Negatives
1. You are going to get lost when you first play.
2. You are in it for the long haul. Each chapter (there are 3 and 1 prologue) can take 1 to 2 hours (if you are really fast, maybe 30-40 minutes but that is not happening on your first run.) and you cannot save during these runs. It is a game that is trying to prioritizes mastery of the levels.
3. I had a few glitches where I would have to restart a section but it was mostly walking cause all the enemies were dead. I'm happy they have a "warp to start" button XD.
The runs are long but you get a good amount of content! I completed everything in 9 hours but I sort of won each chapter on my first or second run. The difficulty may be changed or updated in the future(from what I hear in the discord) so I won't comment much on that. I thought it was not that difficult but still took my attention. Apparently there is a sort of dynamic difficulty that will make runs harder depending on how many points your earn. I can't really comment on this but I'm sure it adds some replayability!
Overall I enjoyed it! Embrace Jank, Embrace Indie, and Have some fun!
